2011 Subaru WRX/STI

meh, not a very big fan of the new evo''s, they ruined them, they are heavy, numb, electronically contolled pigs. now that car is ok, but seriously, people that mod the shit out of their street cars are just trying to make up for the driving skill that they lack.
when i think about a car like that, and a stock evo 8 or 9, id easily rather drive a stock evo 8 or 9,for one, i wouldnt look like a douche, i could actually enjoy it, with that modded to shit evo, id be worrying about one of the thousand things i did to the engine not working properly and fucking my car up. id much rather be driving at or close to 100% of the cars potential rather than far under its potential because with a car like that your not gonna be able to get close to reaching its potential, unless you consider accelerating rapidly fun. that, and the old evo's actually have a much much better feel than the new ones, which is one of the most important thing when it comes to a sports car.
seriously, when i look at cars like that, its just makes me want to buy a miata put a little money into the suspension and say fuck you to everyone with their waste of money, fragile pussy cars. cause id be having 10 times the fun.

I would love to have one of the hatchback STis but if someone were to hand me a brand new F250 or something at the same price I wouldn't say no.

all you could muster in the old thread was some celica from 1999 and a Mitsubishi they discontinues in 02. Whatever tho

that was for under like 8 grand..... and i also said a 325ix, and now that i think of it, a talon or eclipse gsx could be added to that list..
for 35 grand and under there are plenty of cars... an EVO 8 or 9 would be the easy answer, and easily better than a wrx... but theres multiple generations of s4's you can get for under 35, a newer 335xi, e46 330xi, carrera 4, hell 996 porsche turbo's can be found for around 35 now... mazdaspeed 6, either generation of golf r32, the awd infinity g35. audi rs6, a6, s8. etc... volvo s60r. and im sure there are more that i cant think of right now. not all of these would be better than an STI for sure, but id say most are.
now if i could list rwd cars the list would be HUGE. RWD>AWD

make some real mileage for mileage, year for year comparisons

for 35k you could buy a fleet of motorcycles!!!

those are all pretty new cars, obviously for some you would have to buy used, but buying brand new cars is a waste anyway. the only cars that would have to have significant miles would be the rs6 s8 or the turbo. all the others you could find for that price with pretty low miles.
anyway, i know everyone on NS has boners for subaru's but its not the only awd car out there, and its definitely not the best awd car.

so, you can't make the comparisons I'm asking you to.

the 35k figure is the price for a new STi, if you want to compare used car prices (like in the other thread) by all means go ahead, but the Subaru will end up cheaper, year for year mileage for mileage.

And it's no secret that Subaru is more reliable on the whole than Audi or BMW. I know you said the cheapest wrxs you could find were all beat, but I have 150k on mine and it runs fine, I've only had to replace wear parts and wheel bearings.

i really dont feel like going and getting mileage, year and price's for each car ive listed and compare it to the sti, sorry. my whole point is just that the wrx and sti are not the only awd car out there despite what all the skier/snowboarder bro's and ken block lovers think..
i know plenty of kids with wrx's and a couple with sti's, wrx's were all over our school parking lot. but out of the people i do know, the only ones that were reliable were the newer or lower mileage ones. one guy blew a motor at 100,000 miles, has had to get his clutch replaced twice, another is on his 3rd transmission, and every one that i know of who has modded them is having problems. not to mention that every one i drove that was decently cheap had atleast one major problem. now like i said, the newer wrx's seem to be better, though they have less mileage, ive heard good things about reliability when compared to the older wrx'si just feel like its hit or miss with subaru's sports cars.
as for audi's reliability, id agree with you in most cases, but like subaru, they are kinda hit or miss, but with different models, the 2.7t cars, were terribly unreliable, while the 1.8t's and newer 2.0t (i think?) seem to be very reliable. their older early to mid 90's cars are also very tough and reliable. i know someone with a b6 s4 with 110,000 miles on it and he hasnt had anything go wrong other than wear and tear items.
as for bmw, id have to say your wrong. again, not every model is going to be extremely reliable. i own an e30 with over 220,000 miles. ive had it for 3 years and havent had one single problem. and i drive the shit out of it. i still have the engine near redline all the time, ive jumped it alot, treat the transmission like shit, and nothing. ive got a friend who works at a bmw dealership, and he says even their newer models are bombproof. now this is just coming from one guy, but everything ive heard about them has been the same.

win!

the new lexus lfa is fuckin ill too.

seems like the STi sedans get closer and closer to looking like an EVO... still sick none the less.

You must live in a trailer park if you would drive an eagle talon. What a piece of shit. And both the STI and Evo are dope. And I really don't think you cna get a more reliable awd car than a subie, definitely none of those cars you listed are.

agreed, the newer ones look too wimpy, not as aggressive as the older ones.
but, the new hatch is sexy. god damn

take my word for what, i didnt saying anything about its horsepower or top speed, im pretty sure your the one sounding like an idiot

i actually asked him tonight what he toped out on so far on the evo mr, he said 175, but he hasnt taken it to the track yet,

you realy dont know shit about cars and have to start with everyone on NS, his evo he has now is ridiculously fun, we took it on the rally track up in ten mile river and drifted the shit out of it, hes not worried one bit about breaking it and by no means is it fragile, he took a 180 hairpin a tad fast and cut the wheels to fast and ramed right into the snowbank breaking the right side of his bumper, but he just said fuck it i have a new one in the mail arleady,

and idk what the fuck your talking about having a car not reaching its full potentional by putting aftermarket parts in it, by putting on bigger exhust you get more fumes out of the car making it fast, by adding cold air intake your getting more air into the engine making the car run faster, by adding spoilers and body kit your increasing the drag resistence and making it handle and run better, by adding a superchip your improving the throttle and gas intake making your car run faster, thats all the sutff he has done to his evo mr,

you sir know nothing about cars, gtfo

what i meant by not reaching the cars full potential is that even with a stock EVO, you wont be driving it at 100% of its potential on the street. meaning that your under the car's limit of grip, acceleration, braking. and the more you mod it, the further away you get from being able to reach those limits, because you are increasing those limits. and its less fun to be under the cars limit all the time, id rather be at 100% of the cars limit rather than be at 70% of the car's limit, its more fun and it takes more skill. its like, say you were in a stock evo, following an evo with 30k in it. going similar speed's you are going to be having alot more fun in the stock evo. streets limit you so much, that all that extra performance, doesnt really allow you to go all that much faster. now if his car were a track/ street car and he was taking it to track day's all the time, then it would be a different story...
and thats good he atleast drive's it hard. basically everyone i know who has crazy modded car's babies the shit out of them. one kid in my town has a WRX with something around 400hp, he's put a shit ton of money into it. and when i went on a little mountain drive with him it was just boring as hell, he would take corners slow, then floor it once he was straight. while i was following behind with my 170hp being held up around corners. people like that just turn a decent car into a complete waste.
i will say the funnest car ive ever driven was a porsche 914, mostly stock other than a few small things. and ive driven lots of car's. and this was the most fun by far. and compared to modern sports cars, its not fast.

yeah i know talon's have a reputation of being kinda trashy cars, but they do perform well, and are dirt cheap for what you get. for an awd car under 8 grand, its a very good competitor to a wrx. actually having driven both, the talon is a better balanced car than the wrx, its a little softer, but it doesnt push like crazy like the wrx does, its pretty neutral with a very slight understeer, seemed to accelerate about the same but had a better powerband. though for me it would be between a 325ix and a celica all trac for an awd car under 8k.

i still dont understand where your coming from, first of all all those big mods and upgrades he has done improved his 0-60 by a good 2-4 seconds, that is when he is using launch control, (launch control is fucking insane he used it once with me in it and it feels like you entering hyperspeed or some shit but it ruins the tranny is you use it too much) and he has had it tuned and he just put on the new BF goodrich tires that can take a 1g turn, so as far as braking and handling goes, he can keep a wide open 100-130 on the highway and handle it perfect, you do konw also mitubishi made a system in this car that year(i forget what it was called) but it allowed the car to take any turn at a high rate of speed as long as it was resonable, mitubishi gurenteed it and in order to own this system you had to sign a ton of papers for it, they discontinued the system after that year because a kid decided to take hairpin at 60 mph and fliped and died, his mom attempted to sue mitubishi, so the dicontinued it and they only put it in thier rally cars now, we took about a 85 degree turn going holding 65 through the whole thing no braking or anything, so idk about you but holding a steady speed into a whole turn whitout braking and then being able to launch the fuck out of it on the straightaway, thats fun to me, in addition to all this he going to get stage 3 turbo in it by winter and stage 3 tuned

you do know a 180 degree angle is a straight line right? holy fuck quit replying in this thread you idiot. more fumes from exhausts, added drag resistance from body kits, superchips hahahahahahaha

oh and ^ stage 3 turbo guys...look out...i heard they don't even have stage 3 turbos in any of the fast and furious cars!

your an idiot.

"its so hard to keep it under 100" ???? what the fuck? then dont drive with your dumbass friend if he cant handle it. and sorry, but you may think your friends bolt on evo is the fastest thing in your area, but i see you live in PA, and anywhere in PA is only a few hours from carlisle - so i guarrentee there are some muscle cars around you that would rip your friends evo to shreds.

you can throw anyone into an evo and they will drive fast, and i'm sure you drifted an evo X at 130 miles an hour hahahahahah omg get the fuck out of here

ill claim it right now, my dad already put a deposit down on one of these babies in white. subaru says he will get it mid august, stoked!
/claim

doesnt the evo do 0-60 in the 4's already? so improving its 0-60 by 4 seconds would mean its doing it instantly, or in a coulple tenths, hmmmm....
but yes i do get what your saying, it is fun to be able to take a corner really fast and rocket out of it. but you dont need some 60 grand evo to do it. you can have a car that will outhandle your friends evo for well under 10 grand, and they actually have good feel and feedback, and arent awd. and id rather be doing the same thing in a car that doesnt fix all your mistakes and doesnt drive your you.
the only thing that car does that others cant is accelerate very fast. power like that just makes up for a lack of driving skill.

That is all.

if you had a car that did 175 and you had to do 55 on the highway, would you really be doing 55 or even 65, i doubt it thats why its hard to keep it under a hundred because you have so much power there to use

yea and i personally like muscle cars more too, like i said in the last car thread that came around im going to do a project with my dad to rebuild a 69 camero when i get out of school, like rob derydek's 69 camero is fuckin nuts, sick as graphics on it too, it has 666 horsepower, and yea im sure there is a muscle car that has more horsepower, but muscle cars are more ment for drag rather then the evo whic is ment for rally/street race, so in a way yea there probally is a faster car, im not doubting it

and the wording for that came out bad, i ment it like we were drifting and we came out of the woods on the road and thats when i happened to look at the spedometer, yea drifitng 130 not possiable

its just allowing you to push the limits of the car rather then taking away from the skill of a driver,

now automatics take away skill of a driver, the only real skill you need for cars these days are knowing how to handle it, knowing what line to take into turns and drafting, and shifting, still though shifting is the biggest skill you need, bad shift= horriable loss of time and speed

I fucking laugh so hard when I see people posting the Skyline's in dream car threads and threads like this.

In Japan.. they are a fucking family sedan/two door baby mover car. My uncle, has the 4 door and the GTR Skyline. The GTR is his daily driver. His "sports" car is a Mazda RX7 that rarely gets pulled out save for couple weekends here and there.

Well i'm glad you "fucking laughed your ass off" you prick. Over here in CANADA. AND bascially every single country these are not daily drivers. You sir are highly wrong. These are not sedans and family cars you are an idiot. These machines are drift kings and every professional racer wether it's from Japan or Europe would suggest this car. I suggest you take notes and read more about Skylines because they are NOT your daily driver. Who gives a flying fuck about a 4 door did i mention that? No. If your uncle has a R34 GTR and that's hid daily driver and not his sports car he is fucked up. Skyline>RX7.

moscow, 10 mins from scranton,

yes the office is based here,

no the office is not filmed here

i wouldn't drive a gtr because i'd have to deal with all the dumbass card nerds wanting to talk with me about my car.
