2011 punx vs 2011 suspects

Alright guys i have the option of either getting 2011 punx or suspects im 6'3 and 180lbs i live on the east coast so the majority of my skiing is done in the park. Ive read up on both these skis i know the suspects have edge issues and the punx are either hit or miss with some people. I want a fairly soft ski and i know that they say the punx have stiffened up this year. ive skiied on rossi ghettos for the last 2 seasons and there durability was awesome but im now finding them a bit too stiff.

Any advince you have is a huge help thanks!

you should PM a mod and ask if they can change the thread title from "2011 punx vs 2011 suspects" to "2011 punx vs trowing my money out the window"

I have only heard good thinks about the punx and I tried them on a demo and they where good skis.

They suspects on the other hand are shit! whatever you do don't buy them!

the don't hold up to long.

So:

Punx = 200 skiing days

Suspect's = 20 skiing days

lol punx also have shit durability. After 1 season of mostly rails mine are so fucked. Pictures below is the main shit, plus quite a few core shots and the tails are now rockered. The most fun skis I've ever skied on, but just straight terrible durability.

Edge missing.

Other ski, even more edge missing.

And finally the grand finale, base delamination.

OP I would not recommend either ski if you want to ski them for more than 1 season.

Lol! What do you expect? Do you really think there's many ski's that can hold up a whole season if the only thing you do is ski rails?

Besides, the model you're showing is from like 2/3 seasons ago...

You think I'm the only person who's had Punx fall apart on them? Atomic isn't exactly notorious for before durable skis, but don't take my word for it, it's not like I skied them or anything. Even my invaders had better edges and bases than these...

how many times are you gonna post this exact reply whenever someone asks about Punx?

not only are you the only person I've seen complaining of these problems, but your experiences are based on an old ass model (the oldest model, if I'm not mistaken) of the punx. any model of skis will end up looking like yours do if you beat the hell out of them enough, even in just one season

Why the fuck would anyone beat the shit out of brand new skis on rails. Save urself the money, buy some used skis, then if they break because u r beating the fuck out of them on rails everyday, u can buy some more used skis instead of bitching about how ur brand new $650 skis that u beat the fuck out of broke, and how shitty that company is for making skis that break

old punx pal. like, 4 seasons old.

i skied on this years ski for most of last season and beat the piss out of it. as far as i know, it is unchanged other than the graphic, but ive broken a few pairs in the past and this years is still holding strong after skiing on em since january, so im assuming them boys did something right building it.

theyre symmetrical, theyre super poppy, theyre light as hell, they can take a serious beating, and they look killer. im 6'1", 200lbs, so if anyone can vouch for the durability of a ski, its myself.

so get the punx, youll be glad you did!

Buy armada.. Or if you can find the old blue Dumont but them, i think they are thé only bombproof ski that Salomon made.

Punx if you want something that's soft. This years suspects are mad stiff and after only having them for 15 days i had 4 edge cracks and like half a topsheet missing

facepalm.
and how many of you actually own suspects? Mine were fine all i had was top sheet wear and some base scratches... but I'm replacing cause i bought them too big...

I work in a ski shop and atomic came this week for showing off their new line of skis this year, and so far the punx have been improved 100 percent from last year, more edge stability, lighter wood core, good for what you need em for, as reply to the guy re-replying the pics of his Punx"s all i have to say is: WOW what the heck have u been skiing on? haha hope u figure something out

if all you do is beat your skis into metal rails for an entire season, you shouldn't be too surprised with such a result... most any ski would do this, especially if you are generally hard on your gear.

Whenever humans build anything, you'd be hard pressed to find any product that isn't subject to failure at some point. In the grand scheme of ski manufacturing, I think you'll find that we build some of highest quality skis out there.

I think you should wait till first snow and demo the skis and see what works for you, no point buying a ski for durability if it lacks performance for u, its what feels right on your feet not anyone elses.
