how did the 2012s pop compare to the afterbangs pop?

i have abangs right now, thats why im wondering
 
are the walls a cap tip and tail or at least angled? they dont look like the same sidewall construction as other versions

an edge crack and the edge is splitting away from the wood. and then the wood is splitting in another spot. so i sent them in

but i really like them

not sure how duarable the really are though
 
they are a lot more poppy, i have never rode a ski that even compares with pop. they are a little stiffer than the a bangs though.
 
ill be at that demo that springs4life and skithesprings were at tomorrow, so ill be demoing solly 2012 for sure as well as many other park and pow skis. I will also post up a little review of each ski i rode!

let me know if you want me to demo a specific ski (except for the k2 revivals, just because of the negative feedback i got from james about them) and ill do my best to take them out!
 
well, they still have regular camber underfoot and they deff feel stiffer and more stable than the a-bangs and since theyre rockered they load up right where the regular camber switches to rocker and they get ridiculous pop
 
well, next years kung fujas are dimensionally similar to last years obsethed but the tails felt completely useless. the flex on the rest of the ski wasnt too great either. this years obsethed is a completly different story. with tons of rocker tip and tail it owned at pow charging and held its own in the tight trees. and even with the massive rocker it could still rip down a cruddy slope where everything was tracked out.
 
thanks...i was thinking of getting next years fujas and use them for touring but maybe i'll go with the new obsetheds if they are light enough
 
i was hoping to demo some halos/ alphas...but armada didnt show. anyways, ill just let you know about the salomon 2012. im 5 foot 6/7ish and 115 pounds, and to be honest, i prefer a medium to soft flex ski and a shorter length ski...but then i skiied to 2012 in a 179 in size haha. it was the only stiff ski that i really loved, soooo poppy, really light, perfect amount of rocker and camber under the foot, floated great in pow, ripped more rhardpacked stuff with chatter. i loved everything about the ski. when i get the ski though next year, i will get the 171 model, which will fit my style of skiing better and ill have even more fun with the ski
 
they felt very stable on the hardest snow we had (snowing like a bitch for the last couple days, im in PA)

and yes, actually they did. i took them off at the top of the lift and looked at them for a good 5 minutes to just "inspect" the ski and just see if there was any thing screwed up on the ski...seems kinda pointless, i know, but i just wanted to see if i could find anything. and for those worried about topsheet chipping (although its all cosmetic), it didnt have one. super durable topsheet.

if i had to pick a ski to rip through wide open powder and make either very gradual turns or no turns at all then this would be my ski of choice, however, it wasnt suited at all for the tight trees i was taking them through. it was significantly less nimble and playful than the other pow skis (s7, bentchetler, ect.) but i feel that with a closer to center mount the handling would improve slightly. the flex was also stiffer than most of the other pow skis.
 
i do prefer a stiffer ski over a complete noodle, but i appreciate a soft poppy ski where its appropriate. believe me when i say that compared to the flex in the tips, the flex in the tails of the kungfujas was WAYYYYYYY too soft. like when i got off the lift and went to flex the tips/tails of the skis as i was doing with every pair i demoed, i fell flat on my ass because there was absolutely nothing there. it was definitely not the fun type of flex that is cool to play around with. its more like the wash out when you dont want them to type of flex.

on a side note, i found that the bentchetlers had one of the most unique flex patterns i have ever felt. it was like when you buttered them they would lock in at a certain angle of perfect flex and not over-flex like some of the skis in the k2 and other lineups. very nice.
 
if im correct, the revival is the same ski, except a little wider, as the domain.

i dont want to put incorrect words in james (springs4life) mouth, but i do remember him saying that its swing weight was very heavy and the ski wasnt fun at all
 
Could you find any Icelantic skis to demo? If you can post a review of the Da Nollies it'd be much appreciated! such sick skis

I thought the Revival was a super fun ski, I really liked it a lot. It was surprisingly stable for a ski with Jib Rocker... I give it a thumbs up.
