2011 Abangs or Halos?

both are going to be buttery, but for different reasons. the afterbangs have butter zones, where the ski is incredibly soft toward the tip and tail, bht the halo has rocker. the halo is going to be quite a bit lighter, but i would guess the afterbang has more pop. also, afterbangs are symmetrical, halos arent.
 
I thought halos were symmetrical I want the skis for, as said, rails and jumps under 30 but also for buttering and going switch in the park and groomers
 
I probabli will. I've seen deals with marker squire would they be good for what i wanna do or should I get a different set of bindings?
 
You'll most likely love either pair. If it was me, i would be going with the halos no doubt. Higher quality, lighter ski. It will have a faster base and have half sidewall half cap. Also, you wont get hung up as more because of the little rocker. Ive also heard some of the pros that ride them like to ride them switch better than forward, if that makes any sense. Mainly what they are saying is although they arent symmetrical, they still ski AWESOME switch.
 
Just center mount them cause you'll be skiing a ton of park and rails. So if you get a symmetrical ski or not, still center mount no matter what
 
No center mounting halos/alpha's fuck them up. I have skied the ski at center and -2.5 and they perform better in every way at -2.5.
 
Oh yeah, sorry, i forgot it was halos..for some reason i was thinking thalls.

****YES. regard my other post. Mount 2.5 back because im pretty sure thats the center of the running length because the rocker is symmetrical. So mount at center on halos is more or less like mounting a traditionally cambered ski like thalls forward of center..so yeah, mount 2.5 back on halos!
 
This is defiantly a hard choice but my personal preference would be the abangs. I have never skied the halos or and alphas but from what you say you are going to be doing (rails, jibs, small jumps) I would go with the afterbangs. they are extremely playful poppy skis. Very buttery, very soft and its for if you want to have a good time but still want to be able to execute on rails. as for jumps, its defiantly not made for going huge but it will fit your description. Also as far as weight is concerned, the abangs have a very low swing weight because the ski remains quite thin until center and if you are mounting with markers, I think they are plastic so I don't think your setup would be very heavy either way. And if you don't have a lot of money then the bangs because they are a quality ski but if they do break then Line has phenomenal custom service and i don't believe Armada does. Afterbangs are sick on rails!! Some says that they aren't good at jumps that are bigger than 8 meters but I think its no problem th use them on jumps who are bigger than 10 meters. The only thing I dont like about the afterbangs is that they are wery slow, but I have heard that it is a problem with all Line skis.But overall I think its a great ski!!
 
just wax em more then once and they are fine. I also hit bigger jumps with them and it was fine. Abangs for sure.
 
this depends on how much you weight and how tall you are. if you are a lighter person under 150lbs then get the squires, they are a super light park binding and are just as strong as the griffons just meant for smaller people. they are also park specific which is what it sounds like you are going to be doing. if you are tall and above 150lbs then go for the griffons.
 
i don't recall the specific thread but something about a delam not being under warrantee? and kids were saying how armada hasn't followed through on most of their claims in a timely manner. i might be wrong here
 
Hell no.

I held some in a shop and they looked like they would brake if lost them on the flour.

I wouldn't put anyone on squiers unless they were under 95 lbs.

Also height really doesn't mean shit when accounting your din.

Boot sole length, weight and skier ability are the only things that really matter.
 
uh ya i work at a shop so you dont really know. and if you go onto markers website it says something like 130-150lbs is a range you might not want to be in. and they are a composite plastic which makes them extremely durable and marker has introduced carbon stingers to increase that strength. i hate it when people say that metal is better and markers are flimsy because they arnt. in fact it is bad for metals to be exposed to extreme heat then cold so ya..
 
You are seriously dumb if you think a dude that weighs 150 lbs. and skies aggressively at all would be able to ski on squires. Also metal will always be more durable than plastic i dont give a shit about what kind of plastic it is plastic is not better than metal.

And of course they would say that, its says from like 30kg too 110kg.

Where is mrstskier when you need him.
 
i am 135lbs and ski aggressively. its just meant for smaller people. and it might be a little bit more durable but people who are looking for lightweight bindings should get squires or griffons. if your not that heavy then squires are perfect because you wont cause as much stress on the bindings when your carving, landing, crashing, etc.. they are meant for smaller freeskiers and if he is a smaller guy then get the squires.
 
What about the salomon suspects? I've heard they are light, have decent pop, are soft and therefore good for buttering, and can still be good on groomers? Whats your opinion?
 
Some people say they are the perfect park ski. However Suspects of previous years have had absolute shit durability. Hopefully that will be different this year.
 
it is not durability but quality control. like all suspects i have heard stories about are like either amazing or atrocious. but most of the time it is more on the negative side. so you can try suspects but it might not be the best investment if you get a bad product.
 
get abangs if your gonna hit alot of rails. They will be more durable than halos and will last you the whole season.
 
I would go with the afterbangs though because they are way better on rails and pretty good on groomers to (i had a pair and im getting them again)
 
A-bangs are kind of a cheaper made ski. The only things A-bangs would possibly do better than Halo's would be rails and butters. I would say get Halos, unless you like a cambered ski better, or want to centre mount. (Do not centre mount Halos.) *I have not ridden either ski this is just based on what I have heard.
 
hornbeck rides the alphas dead centre, he must have magic powers to stop his skis imploding through his foolishness?
 
My friend has alpha 2's (same ski as halo, just last years model) mounted at dead center and he loves them. Apparently they dont ride weird with a center mount, and they still have an extreme amount of pop
