I thought there'd already be a thread but i searchbarred and didnt find shit so I thought I'd start it off this year.

I got Man U vs Otelul Gelati on tv and Real Madrid vs Lyon streaming on the laptop. hoping Man U can do work today, kind of a slow start this year

My bad, meant to start one awhile back but got caught up with the epl thread. Watching lille-Inter right now. Wouldn't be surprised if lille can get something out of this.

kind of a weird game. weak 1st half. weird officiating too; a rather reckless tackle on nani went unpunished at one point then he gives a red to vidic for that tackle... it was definitely a yellow but i never wouldve given a red. the linesman wrongly called an offside for otelul galati too. glad the boys got the W in the end but it shouldnt have been that tight.

Thankfully Arsenal managed to pull the win out of nothing tonight. Not that marseille were playing particularly well.

arsenal was playing pretty shitty during the few minutes that i saw. if they played like that for the majority of the game theyre fuckin lucky to get a win

real game of 2 halves tonight. OM did well the first half while arsenal were pretty tame. Then OM played absolutely terribly during the 2nd, while Arsenal maintained a decent level.

Definitely a boring, sloppy game, but pulled out the win so I could care less.

For the Arsenal fans - How do you feel about Ramsey?

Got to say I think his play is quite good as he looks a threat to score every game, and while I agree he may be sloppy in possession/distribution at times he's still finding form.

As for today's game - only Ramsey and Koscielny were any good, the rest bar Song were rubbish with Theo and Arshavin the worst of the lot.

I dont watch Arsenal alot, but I personally think Arshavin is horrible.Song is usually pretty solid in the back in my opinion. He had some lapses today trying to dribble out, I think he was just tired.

i watched like 15 min of the second half of the arsenal game and i was really disappointed. horrible passes, like behind players and shit, it was ruining any flow they couldve possibly gotten. their movement off the ball was pretty whack too

I'm undecided. He's definitely still developing, and hopefully he can get up to jack's level in a year or two.

He is a threat, but his play is far too sloppy right now. Misplaced passes, bad touches....most of which occurs in the midfield.

However he has provided some pretty damn important goals. Today's was probably one of the most important of the season so far.

Kos was solid today. He's definitely one of wenger's best signings as of late. No one even knew who the hell he was. He and Vermaelan should form a decent back once verms is back.

I'm really coming around to Koscielny but still think he will be a liability against physical strikers in the EPL.

Really excited to have Verm/Mertesacker/Koscielny as our 3 CB's, rotation will be great and I can see each tandem working.

We need Sagna back badly though.

one of the most gloriously hilarious days I've seen in the CL in years.

Both manchester teams go out while lyon somehow score 7 to advance.

i could not believe my eyes in that Ajax-Real Madrid game. should have been 2-2, and the ref's assistant denies two onside Amsterdam goals. What a load of horseshit.

I guess the official felt Spain needed more help with their economy than the Netherlands.

Thrilled about United and City. The Marseille-Dortmund game was an instant classic. The Champions League is really wide open this year and it's great. And with all these great teams losing, the Europa League will be a lot of fun this season.

Hahahaha Manchester will be watching football on Thursday nights this year. Considering the group United had and the money City spends that is so fucked.

We also managed to nick first which was great. The only teams that scare me in the next round are Napoli and Milan but even then I don't rate Italian teams too highly.

And I would have loved to see Nasri the 15 year old transvestites face when the news broke. I thought he moved to City for the football?

haha he was one of my favorite players at arsenal (still is for France I suppose) but i laughed at the thought of that.

'Course then you realize he's still on top of the league, but whatever. I'll take the midweek hilarity.

Thoughts on the Lyon situation? I didn't watch the game but read multiple reports and commentaries, that result along with what happened in Amsterdam is fucking SHADY. Can't believe UEFA gets away with some of this shit. The preferential treatment that Barcelona gets comes to mind but FFS this Lyon crap is so blatant/obvious.

It's freaking disgusting and sooo obvious, I don't understand how this isn't getting even MORE attention. This is soccer football for shitsake, and a team manages to destroy a seven goal differental between them and the team they needed to tie with in a 7-1 win!?!? Two offside goals get called goals. Then there's the fact that the team they're up against is not in a very financially secure situation and has absolutely nothing to lose by accepting money to lose. Then the fact that Zagreb also gets money from Lyon the farther Lyon gets in the CL because of a transfer they made last season. So. Lyon has plenty to gain, Zagreb has nothing to lose by losing the game but sooo much to gain.

Then the Ajax game itself, personally I don't actually know what the deal with the fact the ref's assistant was Portugese has to do with it, but I've been seeing a lot of talk about that, apparently there's a serious link here. So considering that fact, the asswhipe calls two onside goals offside and the other linesman calls a Real offside goal onside.

I understand the idea that you win some, you lose some, but when this all adds up, its downright disgusting and unfair. And I mean the ramifications for not moving on to the next round are huge financially for clubs, they loose millions of dollars which could be used to support a better team into the future.

Barca straight dominated bayern lev today. I was too busy watching them play though so I didn't get to see the Lyon game. Anyone want to tell me if it was a good game?

damn is anyone watching the arsenal game? this is getting crazy theres no way i thought they would have 3 by halftime

How is this thread not longer? Anyways I'm watching my lackluster club's FA Cup replay but HOLY FUCK Arsenal is killing it right now. I'm rooting for them to pull through!

i was down in france yesterday and saw evian thonon beat marseille 2-0 it was sweet!! did anyone catch that game? such a good upset that needed to happen. i have no idea how marseille are one up on inter right now they played so poorly last night.

Pretty safe to say Messi is the best ever at this point.

Chipped the goalie with his left and right foot!!!

What a match! Obviously thrilled with the result. I fuckin love nights in Europe like this, rarely gets any crazier. I'm holding out for APOEL cause if I'm honest Spain and Bayern would play us off the pitch. Stoked to carry on for England!
