Where will you guys be riding this coming season? MSLM, Blue, Lakeridge, Brimacombe, Horseshoe, Dagmar, Glen Eden, somewhere else?
I will be at Lakeridge this season, anyone else ride there? I am looking forward to it, I think we can put together an amazing park - I remember some of the older features that had in the past that I would love to bring back, like the giant hip, big step up, big step down, and other gnarly features....
I know its just almost August but it's never to early to start thinking about skiing! woot

Dagmar. I just hope we keep the cannon rail this year. Every year we seem to rid of it around January I will definitely be asking park staff to keep it haha

I ride at Lakeridge almost 3-4 times a week, me, Kyle Coxworth, Michael Apostolou, and a sleuth of other people that may ride often or not very often at all would definitely be down to ride for you.

I view it almost as, Dagmar has a bigger park (maybe not so anymore with the park crew Lakeridge is hiring this year), but the rails are sticky, the uphill wind makes the jumps unhittable at pretty much anytime of day, and it is almost pure ice.

Lakeridge has nicer rails, a better built park, friendlier people (EMPHASIS ON THAT, I JUST MOVED TO TORONTO LAST YEAR AND A BUNCH OF THE RIDERS AT DAG WERE DICKS), but just in general a smaller park. But they jumps are nicely built and you either have no wind or a downhill wind, so you are always able to ski.

If you want better skiing, MSLM and Blue Mountain are the best for park.

I am also working on a movie next year with segments shot at an individual mountain. If you have any filming experience and would like to help, or you want to get into filming and want to learn, I would be glad to teach you.

I shot this at Lakeridge last season, pretty poor example of my filming, but shows a good amount of the rails there.

Woops, forgot to read your name and full post...

If you are in charge/have a say in the stuff, definitely work on the jump sizes. That's like the number one thing they need. A couple other features would be cool such as an up rail (I've always wanted a solid up rail, not like the one they had last year that just kind of stuck out of the ground..). Definitely try and get the guys during the parkbuild to work on the flow, it was good last year, but not the best. I know you guys will do an amazing job of it, I have faith in you.

I think I actually got more urban days downtown last year than at any of the local spots. Hopefully that continues next season. Here's hoping for lots of snow downtown!

I had a Whistler pass last season so I only skied at Blue because day tickets were only $25 or so. I'll probably get a pass again at Whistler, or maybe Sunshine Village this season and spend a few weeks at one of those spots (depending on work) and then ski a few days at locals. See you guys this season!

I'm riding at Blue Mt, MSLM, Horseshoe and Glen Eden for this upcoming season mostly but from time to time i hit up other hills as well. Really dam stoked for Winter indeed!

Well I am off to quebec for school next year but over christmas I will be riding nights at horseshoe and over reading week be kicking it back at MSLM.

all of the parkstaff has moved from dagmar to lakeridge...do whatever you want to do but, good changes are happening at Lakeridge

Great to hear this. Lakeridge is about to move up to high times like a couple years ago, like when they had the #1 park in Ontario. Obviously that won't happen again, but it will definitely a step above Dagmar this year.

LAKERIDGE!

yup it's true, I will be leading the crew in the park at the ridge this year, it's a welcome change....very welcome, to say the least... for lots of reasons but mostly for me it's where I grew up skiing, spent many years shredding the moguls, when the park wasn't available to skiers, and we only had 1 way skis, hahaha, yeah I know, I'm old....

they became the first ski hill in the area to open the park and pipe to both skiers and boarders (a progressive move - back in like '97?? ish) and also became the first resort in Ontario to bring in a Helmet mandatory rule - a controversial decision at the time - but now is the standard.

So I'm excited to be at the place where skiing became a lifestyle for me, and to progress the parks to an entire new level.

Oh and also I'm excited to hit big jumps, with steep landings - and play on the very healthy stock of sweet rails and boxes.

AND NO MORE UPHILL WIND!!!!!!!!!!

see you out there!

Burke

Im at lakeridge almost every night and am now more excited for this season than ever. I would love to see lakeridge put some bigger features back into the park, its been a while.

If you were a woman, I would love to marry you. I have a couple people who would love to make suggestions, so if you would like you can send me a PM and I'll link you up with some contacts.

They're retardedly close, as in like a 30 second drive from the base to one another, but they aren't connected. You can see Dagmar from the top of Lakeridge, but there isn't really a way to ski to the other.

Scott is no longer a problem I convinced him lakeridge is the better option. Patrick will be easy too haha

Im at lakeridge a few times a week. Good to hear were getting some park staff that are skiers. The last couple years we had some loose balls as builders, so the parks never been up to its full potential. Getting stoked for this season now, its always good to have more skiers around!

I am glad to hear all of you skiers are at Lakeridge, should be a great year.

Let's hear some ideas and potential features for 2011. I have already heard about the Cannon, very good idea. I like big round rails as well, you see these in many edits, some are kinked or even have multiple kinks. But, I am thinking more about snow features, in Level 1's eye trip you see that incredible Jump to Snow box/bonk to step-down jump....I know this is Lakeridge....but, something like that on a smaller scale would be cool....what y'all think?

Nahh they'd tried this at dagmar last year and it was fun the first day but then it just got icy and really sucked. Unless park staff puts alot of effort into it think it will rarely be used and end up a waste of snow.

Brimacombe did one, Why shouldn't Lakeridge.

The rails were fine last year, Apart from one or two that are just unhittable to skiers. Anyone know what happened to that massive rainbow? That was one of my favorites.

JUMPS SHOULD BE THE BIGGEST PRIORITY THIS YEAR. They were abysmal last year.

To have a nice flow of rails and jumps that are hittable in one run would be key. Rails last year were alright but like poon slayer (nick) said we need that rainbow back. When set up properly its a gangster rail. Also the worse thing in the park last year was that dam callvert at the top of the park. Maybe good for snowboarders but not for us important skiers lol. Another idea that i think would be good is to put the 45 (which is now a 42.5 thanks to the groomers) rail in a flat spot and sink it in the ground a couple feet so its only a foot or 2 off that ground. It would be fun to see how many switchups you could get.

Someone just needs to take everyone's ideas and just compile it into a big list to make it easier.

Another question, Burke, is the Ridge getting any new features this year? I heard a rumor about a stairset?

I think the main thing for a park is flow. If a park flows nice that makes it 100x more fun for sure.

just my 2 cents

i would like to see at least 2 good jumps in a line, maybe a big step down to a step up (like the one a few years ago) if you had a wide enough landing on the step up it could be a good spot for a cannon rail/box. as for rails just dont make them ride ons.

if we got some skiers as park staff lakeridge will be bomb. last years jumps sucked, there were 2 maybe 3 good rails. nothing changed threw out the year so it got really boring to ride the same shit week after week. it has so much potential to have a sick park but they dicked it last year hard..

so we can get some new rails this year...probably 2 or 3 new ones at the ridge, what would you like to see? i have some ideas, but would like to hear what you guys have to see... keep in mind that the more simple the feature the better, they're more versatile and easier to move around... let me know what you guys think.

clearly someone will say 'stair set' - lets put that on the back burner for now... looking for other suggestions

Not necessarily DFD maybe just a flat one? Plus a cannon rail all year

maybe some longer shotgun rails for something simple, a z or a something with like a 45 degree kink could be fun too

im not trying to convince anyone to go anywhere or do anything, I'm just putting out the facts that - If you liked dagmar over the last 5 years(the park) then you will like Lakeridge this season, just because a bunch of former dagmar P.S. will be at the Lake this year. annnnddd if you liked lakeridge before, good, cuz it will still be as fun as ever! No uphill wind... remember that.

burke, it would be sick to just throw some fun little pvc pipes/jibs and bonks. cause the sides of the main park are just empty and it would be sweet to just throw up some random stuff on those little hills. and maybe even a little jib run through the trees if you were to get some clear space in them, half the time skiing on stuff like that is just as fun as a well built jump

The one was set up at the top of rzr's edge..... where was the other one? I was looking at all the park features the other day, and saw 2 corey p's.... I'd like to setup one kind of like how mslm had at the top of the outback....

and then theres the wall... what to do with that beasty?? I'm thinking setup like a hip, with a lot of snow in the tranny...

what you think...all of you

My thought on the wall is to used as urban wall-ride....so take off on one end like a hip would be setup...obviously take-off would be smaller and less steep than a hip...landing on other side of the wall...then tons of snow pushed up in the middle to make the wall a little smaller...as well, if you come down early you will have a down-slope to land on...so again an urban set up so you slide, bonk, or even spin and tap the wall into a landing built-up on the wall and at the end of it....just a thought...has this been tried with this wall? do you ridge riders think it can be done or do you even want it?

This is interesting, because wasn't lakeridge going to close down a year or two ago? that's just what i heard.

And does anyone know what the park staff at dagmar will be? like are they hiring a whole new park staff?

The other one was in the Mini Razor's edge, set up on the side of a snow box type thing.

As for the wall, there are so many options. Designing that park must be fun as hell, you are in a great position Burke.
