2011/2012 Gear

surface is a great company its just they need a bit of construction help, their thoughts of skis is spot on but their process is dog do

"Surface is a great company, they just build shitty skis." That is what I am getting from your post. I have not ever skied a surface ski, so I won't comment on how they ski, but I would like to know what you think is 'spot on' about their designs.

for all of you thrashing surface, actually try a pair. i dare you. i fucking love my double times. they make super awesome skis, just one of their models has durability issues.

Rly there are more?

From what I've heard, only the 9 lives had problems because they milled the core to thin.

I love my one lifes, and they're holding up great, with no edge cracks, sidewall cracks, delam, or core shots, and I've been shredding them in the park since mid season.

Can we get back on topic here please. If you want to start an argument, please take it to another thread and dont ruin this one...

Not true... I have seen too many different surface skis with delam/sidewall/edge issues. Its not just the "no times"

And all of their skis are pretty much the same basic shape, just different widths, flexes, and rocker shapes. They are pretty much just "good looking"

So they are all different........

Any pictures / info of Elan's lineup? I've been hearing alot of good things about the park ski that Laker is on.

You should just stop while you're ahead. This is probably the dumbest fucking post I've ever read in GT in a long time. Surface is a great company. Don't knock until you have tried, retard.

I have tried Surface skis, and I liked what I tried... (Anthony B fatties, Live Life 2s) but,,, scope Evo, tetongravity, here, etc...

You will find a very large number of positive reviews, but you will also find a large number of reviews that complain of durability and hard snow performance, chatter, among other things. Too many, in my opinion.

From a function and durability standpoint, there are too many cons to the kink rocker design. It may be sweet, but it sacrifices too many things.

Also, I have no clue how it is used in the skis, but on the website I found several mentions of biaxial fiberglass. Not good, in my opinion...

But I also hear nothing but praise for the Surface customer service. I am not trying to bash the company, or their products, I am just providing my biased personal opinion. I would not buy a Surface ski, because I find other skis by other companies better in my opinion...

As for my post sounding dumb, I can't really say what I am trying to say, so we will just leave it at that...

Sorry for clogging the thread with this off topic BS.

hey anyone have the armada catalog. i got it on my phone but the post was removed and it is to large to send. please pm me

Seconded. Stop bitching about ski companies in this thread. If you want to discuss it, look for one of the other threads talking about it, or start a new one.

Repost noob, searchbar noob, all that. Take it somewhere else.

hey not any new gear to report but i just got an email from ramp where they're 2011/2012 demo skis are going on sale.
email here:"It's nearing the end of the season and we're getting ready to say goodbye to our demo fleet! All demo skis (including bindings) are now on sale for $399 and all demo snowboards for $199. Products will be available for delivery beginning mid-April and include free ground shipping in a padded RAMP ski-snowboard bag.
If you demo'd one of our products this year, or have been thinking about trying us out, now is your chance to get an excellent deal on our 2011-2012 line. Consider this the RAMP Sports Spring Break!"

It is. Looks a lot weaker then the current Tyrolia 12 din binding, but a bit stronger then the old 11 din toe. Without running any tests on it it seems to be a look full drive toe stripped down with some minor changes.
