2011/2012 Gear

the two skis I care about arent there. i want some info and pics on the bacons. or are they the ones w the green trees posted a few pages back??

No, actually rocker and reverse camber are not the same thing, you must be pretty uninformed if you think they are. these skis have a rockered tip that turns into regular camber a bit infront of the binding, then curves into a reverse camber, then into regular camber and finally tail rocker.

Pretty sure these are the new Oakley Switchlock Airbrake goggles:

Just saw a ton of next years gear the last few days. Oakley has a new goggle. Think the splice+the lens switchability of the i/o but waaaaay better. Anon has a new sphereical. Super lightweight and super comfy. Super pumped on Armada's lineup Outterwear & skis. Their shit is going to kill it this year. T-Halls have real simple rasta design. SPK's are super plain. Not too impressed. Sessions+NS..... I'll try and post pics of some stuff later tonight when I get home if my computer cooperates.

reverse camber is an inverse camber (think of a regular cambered ski - its a continuous curve) rocker is an "early rise", the shape of the rocker can be a curve or flat but it is paired with positive camber or flat underfoot. I guess you could say that these skis are "rockered" underfoot, but it's truely and inverse camber.

i like jossis cuz the wierd things where the oakley logo usually goes is the same color as the rest of the goglgle whereas the black has the silver things

Was thinking it was time for Oakley to roll out something new.

This is kinda lame though. The Splice looked pretty much like the Crowbar, and this pretty much looks like the Splice... how about some innovation and new ideas Oakley?

they have a lens changing system like the i/o's, thats what those 2 silver things on the top are for im pretty sure...

... cool? I changed lenses all the time with Crowbars and Wisdoms in the past, its great that its easier, but their past three models all look the exact same. I want a changeup, like a Wisdom to Crowbar jump....

I've never been so much of Oakley, but they need a big change up.

They could have marketed this new model and the splice just as an updated crowbar, would have sold just as well.

Thats right, here's a small video clip.

Untitled from The Ski Monster on Vimeo.

It looks pretty sick but I hope they come with an extra lens like the Smith I/O, or else it's not as convenient.

while smith and other eyewear companies work hard at making quality producs, oakley works hard at making shit that they think looks robotic and will draw attention to them. see: over the head sunglasses, these new goggles (i like em, but.....) and oakley headquarters.

Oaley makes great lenses, but also has a fuck ton of smoke an mirrors. For what it's worth I have used a ton of high end goggles from many different brands over the last few years. This is more then just a 'I have _______ and like them opinion.' if I say something about gear it is allways based on my experience. I had oakley's for two years, and have used Wisdoms/Crowbars/Splices and still prefer the smith prodigy frame (although giro has a really nice frame) Oakley's Gold mirror is a great lense, probably one of the best universal ones out there, but Iakley has nothing that really compares to the sensor mirror, and comparing dark mirror lenses is moot, since the lenses are about the same across the board.

I for one like the new switchlock. It has the wider nose of the splice but without the retarded two piece of bling next to the nosepiece. I don't need anything new, but I'd definitely consider them. Having the switch-ability (or making it easier) is a bonus, not a game-changer.
