2010/2011 NBA Playoff Thread

The Nuggets are fast and playing well, but the problem is that they don't have any big men and they will get worn out in a 7 game series. Give me -k, idk, but come back after the first round and you'll see I'm right.

i haven't been following the western conference at all. as far as i know, in the east it's a toss-up between the celtics and bulls. the bulls are fucking hot right now, and derrick rose is one of the best players in the game. the celtics hit a little rough patch as of late, but they have one of the most clutch teams EVER. No one comes up big more often then Pierce, KG, Allen, and Rondo...and Big Baby often has huge post season games. if Shaq can fucking get healthy and stay healthy, the Celtics are going to be so hard to beat.

the heat can't win big games, or can't beat good teams for that matter. they don't have a shot.

you obviously don't follow the nuggets at all because we have plenty of big dudes. nene, birdman, kmart, koufos, and mozgov.

This. Plus Koufos hardly gets any pt so he really hasn't been an essential role player on this run we've been going on. I read some where that the Nuggets played nineteen back-to-back games twice this season, the most in the NBA. A team like say the Lakers has only played back-to-back twelve times and that was only once. When the Nugs don't play back-to-back were something like 30-4. Just goes to say that the head dudes in the NBA office obviously design the schedule to have big market teams prevail in the regular season which is some fucking BULLSHIT.

Nuggets played 15 back-to-back gamesLakers played 11 back-to back gamesCeltics played 16 back-to-back games
stop making shit up and complaining

i just went to each teams website and looked up the 2010-11 schedule then counted the number of games they each played back-to-back

you gotta remember theres a lot more that goes into scheduling an entire basketball season than just back-to-back games
many arenas in the nation are not just single sport, like the TD Garden they also have to split the arena with 40 something home bruins games..theres also other sporting events, concerts and special events that take place in these buildings
and also there is the traveling aspect...i'd rather play two games back-to-back in boston then new jersey rather than playing in LA one day and then have a day off to travel and then playing in Toronto
back-to-back games sucks but you gotta jump off the scheduling making conspiracy wagon

quite whinning about back to back games.Don't worry teams like the Blazers and Nuggets will have lots of time to rest after getting bumped in the first round haha

Last Kings game, potentially of all time happens tomorrow.
Go Kings Go! Fuck LA!

in the east we have1 Chicago Bulls vs. 8 Indiana Pacers.
2 Miami Heat vs 7 Philadelphia Seventy Sixers
3. Boston Celtics vs 6 New York Knickerbockers
4. Orlando Magic vs 5 Atlanta Hawks.

Now in the west,,,,,
1 San Antonio Spurs, vs 8 The Vancouver(Memphis) Grizzles
2. Los Angels Lakers. vs 7 The New Orleans Hornets
3. The Dallas Mavericks vs 6 PORTLAND MOTHER FUCKING TRAIL BLAZERS
4. Oklahoma City SuperSonics Vs. The Denver Nuggets.

SO STOKED.

I nearly cried after the game... just like everyone else... seeing so many people from my home crying over losing what was basically the entire civic Identity? it's downright depressing.
They made such a strong push in the 4th quarter... were up 99-96 with under 10 on the clock, and had come back from being down 20 points earlier in the final frame... then Kobe of course, puts up a 3, and sinks it... sending it to OT where we lose...
I feel sick, and I haven't really been a fan of NBA basketball since we were robbed of a championship in 2002...
But I'm not sick for me... I'm sick for all those who have supported this team even while I haven't fully supported it, because this was OUR team... EVERYONE's team in Sacramento. It was the ONLY ticket in town, and unless you wanted to drive to the Bay Area to see pro sports, it was all there was. Everyone in Sacramento, whether they liked basketball or not bled purple until tonight... some might forever...
I guess my Webber jersey that was signed by the entire team in 2002 just went up in price though... since the team doesn't really exist anymore...
There's a slim hope that the Lakers and Clippers might save this team, by getting enough of the other owners to reject the vote, after the Maloofs decide to move to Anaheim within the next 4 days...
But I doubt David Stern's going to allow that to happen... and what team DOESNT want to hurt the Lakers somehow? This votes going to be majorly for relocation...
Seattle... Vancouver... Sacramento...
Who's next is the only question remaining as far as I can see...

Goodbye NBA. All faith in you I had is completely gone.

Moving the Kings to Anaheim would be lame. Give them a new arena, get ride of the Maloof morons and get some passionate management. Seeing from the last game, the fans will still be there. Moving them to Anaheim will might be financially better, but lack of true fanbase hurts the NBA. In Anaheim they will be always second to the Lakers and maybe even behind the Clippers. Small market teams are great and always fun to watch and help build the atmosphere that can be missing in pro-sports.

It's fucking retarded.
I realize the Maloofs are pretty tired of the arena building situation in Sacramento, where the city has refused through legislation and public vote to offer the mass sums of public fundage to build the arena. Hell, Sac even voted in an ex-NBA star as it's mayor running on the platform to keep the Kings here... The whole Arena proposal has been an important one for a long time, and one of the biggest issues in Sacramento.
The problem is, the way the Maloofs were handling it was all bad. They refused to back down from their idea that the public should finance the shit out of it, and after the real-estate heavy economy imploded in 2007, they seem to have wanted to ditch Sacramento all-together.
The Maloofs wont sell the team, their dad sold the Rockets in 82, immediately regretted it, and it took them until 1997 to buy a new one... The management has been just fine... they made the playoffs for like 10 years straight and were the best team in basketball in 2002... only having been robbed a championship by the Lakers and David Stern's cronies...
They have some of the longest sellout streaks in all of basketball, and the fans have supported the fucking hell out of the team through bad draft picks, tragedies, coaching merry go rounds, and several ownership changes.
To just pack up, leave for a rival region (seriously, i'd feel so much better if they were leaving for Seattle... even though I'd still be furious), where there will be no fans awaiting them, as they already have allegiances to the Lakers and Clippers, and just spit in the faces of the psychotically passionate fans that have supported this franchise through some of the most sucky years any franchise has had to go through?
It's fucking bullshit... and on top of all of it, this team is going to be a playoff contender for years to come within 2-3 years. The team is young, has a bunch of stars, and tons of Salary cap space... Give Sacramento a new arena, and holy shit...
Oklahoma City vs. Anaheim Royals games are going to be playoff events in a few years... and it will leave fans in Sacramento and Seattle wanting to throw sharp objects in the direction of David Stern for years to come...

so depressed about the kings. fuck anaheim. might just have to purchase myself a sac town jersey now for old times sake.

also not stoked that nuggs are playing the thunder fuck. only team who have been able to consistently beat the new look squad...

oh well give em a run for their money regardless!

They SHOULD be playing SEATTLE...
Fuck David Stern for letting this happen. He's making Gary Bettman look GOOD...

EXACTLY.

i miss the sonics and the real grizzlies so bad.

memphis and oklahoma? come on now.

and those were some of my favourite jerseys of all time

All the new NBA teams have fugly ass jerseys too... and use very boring colours that dont even reflect anything about anything...
Vancouver had Turquoise and Black and Red. Crazy shit... The Turqouise was actually "naismith blue" because that dude was from Canada, and it paid homage.
now? The Memphis grizzlies have like 8 shades of blue and some yellow... BORE...
The Sonics had Green and Gold. Nobody else in the NBA really uses those two colours... The Thunder use a smattering of a bunch of colours, but mostly blue... just about the same blue as Memphis, or Denver, or anyone else... More boring...
The Anaheim Royals?
They'll probably end up using mostly Red, because of the Angels, and throw on tons of Black because of the Ducks, and will end up just copying the Trail Blazers, Raptors, and Bulls look, or something... Maybe a strip of Purple or Blue for the past... lame shit..

I still have my Ray Allen jersey from the Sonics. Size 56. Wear that bad boy all the time!

Awesome. I have a Gary Payton retro jersey (not from their 90's ugly jerseys though), like an OG 1970's jersey that I wear sometimes. He was from Oakland and went to school in Oregon like me... maybe one day I'll end up in Seattle too haha.
