Make links work again. Like so ^ his signature could just be a link that said "Wisdom Teeth & Constipation" instead of the NS link. That's been killing me for awhile now.

Also, mabye revamp the image code...... Like have it stretch to fit the 600px frame?

How about a stats page that tracks stuff on NS. Like average member logins per day, how many people were on yesterday, how many new posts yesterday, pics and such not.

And maybe more hype, like tell people when you'll have new teasers and stuff dont just post it

You are already doing this, but fix pretty much Resources as a whole, namely Trick Tips and Links.

What I don't think you should do is go to that indented reply style.. unless there's a way to flatten it out. This style is more BBS and easy to read.

Have the top rated section for videos. Also have it so you can choose if you would like the longest viedos in the front. Or if you wanted either short or most recent in the front. Because waiting 30 seconds for a video to load that only plays for 5 seconds is really annoying, and its a waste of time.

i dunno if this is possible, but some people have mentioned bringing back the old link system (a href etc). is there any way to do BOTH linking systems? that way people can post URL's if they want or link the text the old way. i don't know jack about programming though so maybe it's not possible

that sounds great man thanks for all the hard work you put into this site, the only thing that i dont see a point in is the quote thing like no one reely cares about what section your quoting i dont think but i could br wrong , personally i dont see a problem with just reeding through the persons message that an individual had quoted but other than that sic stuff man i'm looking forward to it .

with the new image set up(where you click on the thumbnail and the fullsize pic pops up, you know) there should be scroll bars allowed in the pop up windows.. reason being is because the pictures are ALWAYS cut off one way or another

K.. lots of people are asking for a karma system... this is a tricky one that will take some time to work out.

I was thinking of this before. What I wanted to do was eliminate the blue/green/red/pink names and make a system where your name changes colour depending on yoru karma.

As example:

If you just join you will be a navy blue / blakc. Adding a profile makes you a little brighter. Then for every 100 posts you get a little more red added to your username. If you post pics & vids you get more green added to your name. This will basically continue and use ratios of your contributions to choose your color which would be calculated daily. So every day you will be a different colour depending on your contributions previous day. And the more you've contributed, the brighter your name would be.

that's a pretty darn cool idea Paul. So like, people who post a ton are red, while people who get good karma go more green. but when they mix, it's brownish...

I like the idea for sure, maybe pick a somewhat more 'mixable' color scheme?

what if you kept the names the same color but used like a little karma box or something for the colors? a username is just so small that little differences in color will be hard to pick up, but if you had just a little karma square or something next to the name it would be a lot easier to tell the color

what happened to the icon site, it really changed from when i got mine and now i am to lazy to find the icons

 
it cant be daily, im sure that would take up huge space, and not everyone is here everyday, but , that doesnt mean they are noobs or assholes, so that doesnt work with the karma system, something more reasonable is monthly

one thing that really bugged me was the pictures having the options of go back to picture/go back to category while the video section only has go back to videos, there should be three options in pictures and videos, back to pictures/videos main, back to previous video or back to the category that the video came from

i dont know about that karma system, but thats just because i have no way to contribute photo or video that easily. so it would make me look like a serious post whore. i think some people would just post a ton of pointless vids to get their karma up too.

a true karma system wouldn't run solely on that. I think what Paul was getting at was to mix a way of measuring contributions with a way of measuring respect.

so it wouldnt really be that red wad bad it would just show how you contributed. most of my posts arent meaningless accept for that one day (i think you guys know which thread i mean), but other than that i think my posts are intelligent. but i dont run the site so i cant really have a say.

this thread has kind of gotten out of hand so I'll start another discussion regarding a carma system. That is still a ways away (if at all) so for now I'd like to focus on improving current features.

i think it owuld be nice to see the layout of the site change or maybe just the colour just somthin new for a change i think it would be cool to see the many different visual effects of newschoolers but if not its no biggie the col blue is deffinately easy on the eyes

Well we will definetly be making the site wider. Nobody uses 800x600 anymore, 90% use 1024x768 or bigger.

I've also finished re-working the quote and image features in the forums. You can now choose what you want to quote, signatures excluded, and images are displayed up to the max width of the content area, so no more plain thumbnails.
