2004-05 Atomic Stomp help

Anyone know anything about these...they have good dimensions at 118-88-108...I have never used Atomics...are they as stiff as say the Karma or Mojo 90? Any help would be great...thanks alot
 
They are stiff, light, and dead. Its kind of a weird ski. Not bad, but they don't feel like any other twin. The closest thing would be MoJo's which are also really stiff, and kind of dead feeling, but they are a little heavier. but If you're looking at MoJos, I'd go with those instead because you'll get a similar experiance, but on a longer lasting wood core.
 
I can get the Stomps right now for 200 less...what is the core on the Atomics made from? Do they flex out faster than a wood core?

Thanks...and this would be an all-mountain ski...I use my Chronics in the park...I basically want an all-mountain twin that won't see much park action...still see cliff drops and jumps...but not rails or pipe...thanks
 
it's foam and carbon. which makes it light, but it will eventually break down. It's a good ski, it's just not that "fun" if that makes any sense. It's like non-alcoholic beer... you get the flavor but not the feeling. That being said, if you have a park ski, and are looking for strong all-mountain ski, the Stomp fits the bill.
 
Thanks for all your help...I skied on an Atomic GS ski and liked it...it is mainly about saving the 200 bucks...It is between this, the Karma, and Mojo 90...they all have almost the same dimensions...I just don't know anything about the core on an Atomic...I like a stiffer ski...it will be an all-mountain ski...does the Atoomic Core hold up better than the 1080 cores? I pretty much expect a ski to be dead after 100 days of skiing...will this ski make it that long? How tough is the top sheet? I do like a stiff ski
 
I've never owned Stomps, I've only demoed them, so I can't honestly give you a long-term report on durability. I'm guessing at this, but they will probably last longer than 1080's because of the carbon rods. Someone on here must have had them a whole season, so hopefully they'll speak up on long-term core durability. I have heard that the top-sheet is durable though.
 
Also...do they have carbon rods running the lenght of them? Or are they carbon stringers? When I here rod I think of something round like well a dowl (sp?) rod or rebar
 
not a stringer, it really is a rod. You can see on the topsheet, it kind of bumps out to accomodate them.
 
This may be a dumb question...but can you mount non atomic bindings on the Stomp?...do they have a mounting plate or something? Would I have to worry about bindings ripping out with a pair of Scratch 140s on the ski?

depends on the year, they used to have a mounting plate that only took neox bindings, but for the last 2 years i think you can put any binding on. you might want to call and ask whoever's selling them though to be sure.
 
I bought a pair, put about 20 days on them so far and they seem ok. You can mount any binding you want as long as the brakes are 88cm wide. They ski ok and are fairly light and medium-soft stiffness. The grafics kind of suck though
