2003 saw skiing, particurarly new school, reach new heights. Men and women were dropping into the pipe at the x-games and lines previously though impossible have been descended. The Golden Pole Awards are the ski communities way of recognizing the incredible progression brought to skiing by it's star athletes.

Best in halfpipe: Candide Thovex

Best in the park: C.R. Johnson

Best on Rails: Tanner Hall

Big mountain flow: Seth Morrison

Big Mountain jib: Mike Douglas

Innovator: Shane McConkey

Breakthrough: Shoya Okazaki

Best Female: Sarah Burke

Best all around: Candide Thovex

no way ^ Candide brought his sport farther than it's ever been. He's so smooth it looks liek he's not even trying. And he's a modest guy. That's why he's best overall.
