Happy birthday, NS!!

20 years of shenanigans, trash talk, and a few thousand goods who live for winter. Here's to another 20 years of fun!

Happy 20 NS! Pretty incredible.

My personal favorite 2 NS experiences in my life

1) We were young (& dumb) prior to social media and landed in Salt lake for a week 1 hr from mtns. no car too young to rent a car. hit up NS and not only did someone offer to help us out, made a friend who made our trip amazing from guiding us to parks to urban spots and all things good times- never would have happened with out a place to send out an SOS.

2) our crew of 3 mt snow reg's found an ad for a party house at mt snow. went in on a ski house for $200/ month on the mountain with 8 other random NS dudes- kegs in the snow, a hot tub off of craigslist in the driveway and skiing and partying the entire spring all through random NS connects. amazing!

Hell yeah!! This is what we're all about. Thanks for sharing!

I remember back in 2008 I moved to Annecy France and didn't have enough money for a car. Put out an SOS and made a lifelong friend - we skied together all winter and he brought me all over Switzerland and France. Moved back to Canada, we kept in touch and 6 years later flew out to his spot in Hossegor France to do some surfing.

I have about a dozen of stories like this and now I am part of the wheel that helped shape who I am.

Cheers to each and everyone of you!

GFA always hitting the good urban spots. Even getting in the tough/high bust ones. Those were the days.

This thread just rocked me a little bit. The crochet hats made me lmao. I still rock an ENOM hat from back in the day!

Watching the Xgames in 2021 and reminiscing over classic threads... Congrats on 20 years and thank you to the people still working hard to support the newschoolers community.

Just logged back in for the first time in years after hearing a Newschoolers reference during the X games. This thread was great. What happened to the cults?? 420 Forum was the shit.

I happen to find myself watching tv and click over to ABC to see X-Games Big Air or that new event Knuckle Huck and I heard someone mention NS; so here I am. Man This site shaped by childhood, this was the first internet forum I ever joined. My 2 older brothers joined a few months prior with their friend Chris Jones or CJ ( the guy that made the hot girl thread that lived on for years later)

it was Nov. 2001 when I joined--> I was 13 years old, still traumatized from 9/11 and the only 2 things in life that I enjoyed were Skiing and Video games. From that date on until I would say 2001-2008? I was on this site everyday, posting and watching vids, I watched the Sport grow before my eyes. I Met so many legends at Whistler when they held that event in April ever year( World Ski and Snowboard Festival) I Met Sarah Burke, JP and many others that I looked up to at the time. Then I went off to University only to come back years later when I go to see the Sport that I love make it into the Olympic games. Here I am at 32, seeing these kids 19 and 22 year old winning X-Games Gold medals doing tricks I thought I would never see in the sport.

Damn, lots of memories here

wow a regular stroll down memory lane... thanks for the throwback links! this website melted my 13 yr old brain to mush! thanks for the mems

Really nice to see your check in @Mattman! Hope you are doing well. I'll be celebrating 20 years in 2023. Wild to think about. Keep on keeping on!

I've been on NS for almost 20 years. I don't visit much these days but randomly logged in tonight to reminisce about the good old days. NS saved my childhood, no joke.

I was a 20 year old seasonnaire in France when I first found NS. I wanted to ski like snowboarders did and got kicked out of every park in the Savoie ?. I got home and persuaded the snowdome at MK in England to allow me to go attend freestyle nights on Saturday nights.. I did this by exlplaining I was a 'newschool skiier' and showed them this site on their work PCs (no smartphones or Mobile data then lol). I ended up travelling across Europe competing throwing mad 720s hahaha. I live this site. It gave me a community when one didn't exist where I was from. Great work all

I don't go on here often anymore (clearly with this thread being a few years old), but NS changed my life. I see there isn't member numbers anymore, but I member 50-ish I think. Check my threads, most are older than any who plays here. I hope NS lasts for another 20 years!

This feels like I'm saying hello to Obi Wan in the desert. It's nice to see you! I have not been on here nearly as long as you have, but the website and forums are still thriving despite the explosion of Instagram. It is a nice place to talk about skiing with other skiers and also many other things.

Haven’t logged in in a couple of years, but joined in 2002. Rad times.

Definitely glad to have been around for the early days and to see skiing go from not being allowed in snowboard parks to where it’s at now. Crazy to see the evolution over the years and NS has been there for it all.

Keep on keeping on…

wow i just saw that theres no more member number. kinda lame. and sucks to see OG members with no karma now because NS decided to change that too

Damned crazy to think that much time has passed. NS was so primitive back in the day

Highlights definitely Teddy Bear Crisis dropping and of course, the How to Get to Chad's Gap from the Bottom of Alta

I used to use it to remember people a bit. If they were funny or cool I'd add it, if they sucked and weren't funny I'd go -. Could kind figure out who the shitty trolls and assholes were. I do miss being able to +k somebody for helping me out.

agreed. id put people at like 3 and if they slowly started to grow on me id put them up slowly

congrats NS for gutting it out. I remember partying with Harvey CKO, shmuck, schwags, lokash, Jeff Thomas and a million others back in day in Whistler- building a QP booter in the MT Seymour BC wouldn’t trade those memories for anything!

Never forget the funniest troll on this site, 'mommy'. Used to have me in stitches daily what a legend ?

Wow what happens when I hit my 10 year anniversary next year? Is there going to be a Newschooler's award ceremony? I hope when I hit my 10 year mark, we get a watch thats engraved "Happy 10 Year Anniversary Bitch Your Not A Gaper."

10 years.... 4 posts. impressive

My favorite Newschoolers joke that I can't find: Hitler reacts to America's JOSS edit. Its actually a video of Hitler, spucking out about the battle of the Bulge and a Terran from space took the video and then he got shot by the videographer walking out the room with a Terran ghost bullet. I'm calling it: America's JOSS edit made him lose the war cause Ava Braun never aligned the bombers during WWII to Goodbye Blue Sky by Pink Floyd like I told him to, and then he watched America's JOSS edit to doubly confirm it was stupid because it wasn't OG rap the entire time. GO AMERICA!

Haven't logged on in like 4-5 years before today. Haven't posted in like 12 years before today.

I'm old(ish) and life took me for a ride. Reading some of these posts takes me back and it's awesome to see this place is still going strong

”Crochet Era Begins- intro video

If you weren’t knitting your own beanie (or toque) what were you doing? DIY clothing was the name of the game in the early days, from these hats to stretching your tall tees. Movement made strong by the one and only EastAR5 -RIP“

Hold up did Adrian die? This was a trip down memory lane but that one caught me off guard.

Back in the day myself, another kid from Maine, and Adrian were trying to start a headwear company called Defekt. I had no idea he passed away.

Andri Ragettli Does First Quad Cork - video

Freeskiing is now aerials… again. Andri Ragettli brings skiing into the quad cork era for good with a Quad 1800. You could argue Wacko Wells was the first though...

wacko was first, we can not give that to Andri spaghetti

what a flood of nostalgia.. and what a day I chose to log back in for i think has to be at least 6 years... the memories generated from this site, and its community are absolutely incredible. Since becoming a father, and making it through my 20's my time spent skiing has delved to almost nothing...

I am happy to say that I said fuck it. Bought a new england pass tonight, i got my old ON3P J mos tuned up -- although i did have to laugh that they told me my STH 16s were no longer allowed to be worked on after this season.. i guess it has been almost a dozen years(yikes) and my fiance and I are taking our son for his first shred EVER next weekend.

Super stoked on skiing again, and super stoked that it will be something I can do with family, and friends forever.

Thanks NS
