20 Years of Newschoolers

damn this is epic. so many memories of legendary moments in skiing. very thankful to have made it on there! Thanks NS.

Andy Mahre & Pep Fujas No Poles at X Games - video here!!

Andy Mahre and Pep Fujas fucked the world up by dropping their poles in this year’s X Games. With this move, these luminaries of style began the poles versus no poles debate.[/quote]

This is so upsetting haha. Surely that footage exists somewhere?

While only a member since 2008, All these events (even before being a NS member) have brought back alot of memories. From playing jibbing game at home, to getting stoked at my local ski/snowboard expo, to dreaming of skiing to avoid the bullshit of JR Highschool or just getting my first rail or flip on. Thanks skiing and thanks Newschoolers. I would not be the person I am today if it was not for everything they have provided for me.

Man I wish I still had a pair of your moment skis, those were the best skis I’ve ridden

I still have some pictures/videos of Nipples from Camp of Champions on a hard drive somewhere.

Wow, that sounds terrible reading that sentence back to myself.

damn. this makes me incredibly nostalgic and also realize how old I am. NS was such a massive part of my life age 12-22, it's wild to think about. This site helped make me who I am today, wouldn't change it for the world

My little brother got me on this website in March of 2003. I was 13 and Le Relais ski center was making the dopest set ups for its time. It was a huge movement and I wanted to follow that wave. I thought this site was for pros only.

The NS get togethers were awesome

NS was always there. I was always on it. I missed out when I was in college, then started again in 2009. When I could affort to ski again. I met so many friends through NS and I plan to meet most of ya.

Shout out to skiP.E.I. for coming by! We gotta do this again! I found better terrain!

Mr.Bishop, if your in my area; i have a spare room for ya.

theabortionator; dude, I want to meet you!

Almostaskier, drew. And Harvey; please come back

To the administrators, moderators and whoever own this website: thank you for believing this site.

It feels like 20 years ago you came to a small hill in NY (West Mountain) with traveling circus and taught my teenage self some cool shit Ced!

Man, teenage Dylan had so much to learn.

also Ced is the fucking man, dude had the best moment skis period.

Thank You! I am so glad this little place still exists. In 2003 I was a teen with a passion that very few of my 'actual' friends shared. NS provided the community to fully pursue and obsess over what I truly loved alongside my peers. Social media wasn't much of a thing back then, NS was really something unique and special. I randomly logged in today and saw this thread. It was really fun to deep dive back into the old memories, and to see a lot of other old timer users responding here. I rarely check in here, have aged out of skiing the park, and admittedly have become a weekend warrior; nonetheless I will be an NSer for life!

Wow. I've beena member for 11 years and lurked since 2006. A few things i think could have been included:

"Solid 7" thread

"how to get to chads from the bottom of alta" thread - arguably one of the greatest underdog stories ever told.

"Muddy winter" era defining edit. To me it marked a moving on of style from the hyphy era.

there are so many things that i'd love to pull up. What an amazing platform Team NS have built, Thank you.

It was awesome to be a part of this community in my teens and early twenties. Lots of good stuff has come from this site and this thread hit the nostalgia button super hard. I've been unplugged from NS for the past few years but it's always great to come back for a laugh and to watch some old videos. One good thing about NS, I keep getting older and it stays the same age...

Woah, gato. How’s it going?

Right in the feels! I haven't been in the NS game too long (used to come on here to watch edits before actually making an account back in '14) but dang, reading all you veteran NS'ers commentary has me tearing up in the office right now. Skiing will always be home. Sure, I may live in SoCal for the moment, but my Weekend Warrior status has never been higher.

This community has been my favorite thing to log into for distraction and endless entertainment over the last six years, it's also helped me build a brand in the industry + get my foot in the door in cool places. I'm working for a company right now that's pretty much built on snowboarding, and I was hired on to bring in a freeskiing perspective to help shape the brand. This is what I was made to do. So thank you, Newschoolers, for all the friendships, edits, karma, gear, inclusivity, opportunity, and stoke you've gifted me with. I'm running with it.

Going really good, I've been in SLC the past 6 years and really liking it. Started mountain biking a bunch, bought an Instant Pot, got engaged. You know, Utah stuff.

So happy I’ve found this little corner of the internet with a cool network of people. Even though I’m new I have appreciation for what this place used to be and what it is now.

same. literally kicking myself because i was born in 2004 and missed all this. what a time to be alive .

Instant Pot, big moves. Glad you're well.

love NS cuz its been like a cool trip to be honest. reading that timeline was awesome yo cuz some of those moments i remember absolutely made this place and skiing loose their minds so skiing as a whole should be thankful for this place even if we shitpost to much

great list, feel lucky to have been able to grow up during the freestyle movement. One video that should def. be on there is Wallisch's superunknown video

Damn its been a minute, I used to be lurking here daily before i finally made an account in '03. I haven't logged in for a few years, as much as things have changed they really haven't.

Wow this is an amazing thread!

I was introduced to Newschoolers in the year 2000. I was 13 years old and in 8th grade. I remember the original blue skier iron cross NS.com logo and I remember downloading videos on my parent's super slow dial up internet. I am now 33 years old. I have a career and a wife. But I have to say, Newschoolers.com has been a constant in my life this whole time! I check the site maybe once a month and I don't think I have posted in any threads in at least 5 years.

I was never an insider in the ski industry bu I have to say it really is amazing to see where this site and the sport has come in 20 years. I still love to ski even though I don't do it as much as I used to. I even still try to keep up with the media and watch edits on slvsh, listen to podcasts, etc.

Hats off to Newschoolers for doing it right for 20 years now!
