2 years of freeskier for $2 email?

just got an email from freeskier which said 2 year subscrip... for 2 bucks... so i clicked it and a sketchy ass pop-up came up asking for a credit and stuff... did not look legit at all? anyone know if this is right?

i saw that and decided it was fake since it really doesn't feel right on that janky web site. it looks like the freeskier order form but looks fake.

Never put your credit card number in a pop up. Only on sites where you can see exactly where you are on the address bar.

yea i did it, and it looks legit on my card statement. It has only $2 on my card and has freeskiers phone # on the statement, so its legit

That doesn't make it legit. If they were taking your card number of course they would only charge $2 so you don't get suspicious. Then later they go buy a new amp with your info and leave you to deal with the shit.

And anyone can put any kind of number, letter combination on your statement description including freeskier magazine's phone number.

Of course this doesn't neccesarily mean it is a scam, just that it might be. And I didn't get the email so I dunno, but I'd try and contact the magazine to find out.

i got the email a few weeks ago, and it said that it was only for the first 200 people. it seems odd that they would send out another one... good thing i didnt sign up.

to clear all this up...

it is not a scam, a lot of people here at NS have discussed this. i have paid the two dollars, it came up on my statement and under "about fs" on freeskier.com, my subscription doesnt expire until 2010 now. before it was 2008. its not a scam. its for the first 200 people. its a sick ass deal.
