2 Seasons progression comparison

Hi, I'm a bit new to this, this is my second season, I have been skiing in the park. The season's getting over and I'm a little frustrated about my progress, but I don't have anyone to compare with.

I only see them stylish newschoolers guys, and when I'm trying to find any older videos from them, it looks like everyone was stomping it from the beginning. For instance, I really like these creative north european guys like the bunch etc, which are often just playing with some simply-looking stuff, but when it comes to, they are able to pull off technically insane tricks, and it looks like they had got this huge skill level from the very beginning, because even in the videos from 2010, the're still smashing it...

So I would like to ask You, how did your skills looked like after 2 seasons of riding (trying to say, I need to hear, that I'm doing bullshit and I should be better, because that works usually well as motivation to me).

So, what I've learned after 2 years in the park:

Straight airs on medium jumps trying to tweak some grabs (safety, mute, tail, stalefish, truckdriver)

Weird 360s

180s with some simply grabs (safety/mute)

Switch 180s on smaller jumps

Frontflips

Weird nosebutter 360s

Sliding these slim street-looking rails

Frontside 270s

Weird backside switchups on fat tubes

Backslides when I've got enough speed

Lip-ons

And I'm ashamed to say, but that's all.

When I'm saying weird, it's like 0 style and 0 control.

I think I spent about 20 days in the park this season.

So what about You?

That's pretty good if you ask me.

besides skiing is about getting out their and getting after it and having fun. If you're constantly comparing yourself you're gonna be limiting the good times you have. Everyone's different and some progress faster than others for many different reasons.

but don't think for a second that anyone out there making dope edits and doing the shit you described wasn't just where you are at before. Nobody just steps into skis and automatically has good style and a huge bag of tricks. It all comes with repetition.

Of course, I don't want to compare myself like if I'm better/worse etc. I just found out, hearing stuff like "it's really simple, every beginner can do this" is really good working as a motivation/fear breaker for me. Because I got consistent flow of ideas about new stuff what to do, but my skill level is often limitating me. And when I'm trying to get some new tech tricks, sometimes, there's an unreasonable mental block. And I have got really no experience with guys on the similar level like me.

So thank you :)

I hear ya I hear ya.

i forget where I was at after 2 seasons but you're on a pretty good pace I'd say.

Just keep sending it and trying new shit you can wrap your head around and you'll be slaying in no time.

something I like to do is to break the trick down to make it more simple then do each of the steps and get them down then put it all together.

After my 2nd season of park i learned a saftey grab and how to slide flat bars and boxes... but this is my third season and i can front 2, backswap fat features, all kinds of grabs, nose butter 3 rollers, and i can slide almost any rail as long as its not super tall because its not worth the consequences.

Pick a trick(for me it was the simple 3) that you can already do and master it.. once you can do them comfortably off anything you can start getting creative, that's were the fast progression and fun begins

This was my first year park. I call it first year since I could only 180 last year. I skied a little too much this season and managed not to get hurt. Some good tricks I learned this year.

K-fed

Hucked a few front 6's

Front 4

Back 2 / 4ish

720

540 Blunt

360 mute

Lazy boy 3

Unnatural Switch 5 ( I spin unnatural switch )

Switch 180 stale

What's "weird" is that you're discouraged with your progression after 2 seasons. Give yourself some credit. Most new park skiers don't have a learning curve like you do.

Be proud of what you HAVE accomplished. It will take time.
