2 (possibly more) patrollers killed at mammoth

As many of you know Mammoth is an (in)active volcano, we have a decent size "stinkhole" off of Chair 3. With all the new snow, patrol sent 4 guys to restake and net this danger. While probing, the snow collapsed sending all 4 patrolers into the pit. Before they could be dug out, 2 were overcome by the carbon monoxide. The other 2 were pulled out and rushed to the hospital, no word on there condition yet. Send prayers out!!!!!!!!!!!!

And God bless those that were lost. Names unknown at this time.

for those who dont wanna click

pray for them and their familys

thats terrible, this winter has taken many lives, way to many lives.

RIP for those who died and lets all pray the other two pull through, my thoughts and prayers go out to all four and there families.

it was sketchy... not very fun. there's been quite a bit of drama here this year... lots of snow though

im headed out there next week... i never knew mammoth was a volcano. but i guess that explains the huge vally it has from chair 3 to the top.

I never knew Mammouth was an active volcano, doesnt surprise me but its news. That really sucks tho, this has been a bit of a deadly winter for some reason. Just goes to show what we already know, even the obvious parts of skiing can be deadly.

R.I.P

certain parts of mammoth smell like rotten eggs because of the carbon monoxide and sulfuric gases that are floating aaround coming out of those sinkholes. also you will be cruising along and see a sign that says do not cross this point because of carbon monoxide....

oh my god that is fuckin terrible.. i feel for those guys... rip to the ones that didn't make it.. and good luck to the injured

wow that is pretty tragic and unfortunate.

but the whole mammoth area is volcanic. out the in the flats there are hot spring everywhere (some you can bathe in too) and vents and shit. when you get into northern california, its just a line of volcanos throguh oregon and washington into southern BC, and many are skied.

there were 8 patrollers there when it happened. 3 fell down into the stinkhole. one went down to try and save them, but realized it was too late and was able to get back out.

i work up on the 4th floor(the administrative offices) at mammoth, so i hear all the inside details and shit
