so currently sitting in my room I'm staring at a pair of Sir Francis Bacons and a pair of Green Lifes. I was planning on using the Green Lifes as my go to park and screw around ski and the Bacons for pow and all the big mountain i plan on traveling to. SO my Ski question is would it be wise to just have 1 pair of 100+ mm in the waist skis or am I right in thinking the Greens will be good for it? I'm definitly nothing special in the park but go through there on occasion. Mostly just screw around all over the hill.

And I'm looking for a new mountain bike. Planning on spending around $500 (i know cheep but have other needs with money too) But definitily going with a hard tail. I've looked at Fiji, Trek, and specialized and just kinda some direction. I plan on riding mainly on the dirt paths in the hills and a bit around town.

Personal info

6' 4'' 230lbs and enjoy long walks on the beach

thanks much!

^^quote won't work but...........yeah i get that a lot.... but i found they work for me. shit i went all season this year on a pair of 08/09 watch lifes in a 180 that are noodles until i got the bacons. plus i like to actually be able to use them in the shit state of South Dakota on occasion.

with your size get a 29'er hardtail, if you wanna spend even less just get a singlespeed. it's hard to get a good bike for $500, i think even with a low budget you won't regret spending a little more for a better bike

go to bikesdirect.com . I got a motobecane 29er hardtail for $900, they have one with lower components for around $700. Such a good bike and the components are awesome for the price.

they don't over flex when a 16 year old who is 5'10" and a buck 30 skis them.

your 6'4" 230lb.

take people's reviews with a grain of salt aimed at their size. What feels like a plank to them, isn't gonna seem so stiff to you. What they have no problem flexing, your gonna bend in half.

I am 5'10" 165lbs and bacon's felt like they were going to wash out all the time.

oh i completely understand the size thing and thank you for advice.

I kind of enjoy a little flex in the ski and so far have had a great time with the bacons so far, but i will take your advice into consideration. mostly i've got them for deep days but i kinda ride them like average people ride the lizzies

you're gonna want a pretty stiff ski, even if you like a more buttery feel just because you're a pretty big guy. bacons are not very stiff at all and they ski incredibly short. for your size you would want a 202cm bacon, not something short and soft

I dunno, I'm 5'10" 200# and I wouldn't take SFB's in anything other than blower pow, but if they work for you that is awesome. I use Armada ANTs for all mountain and 4FRNT EHP193's for pow and think they are both medium flexing skis.

thanks man but i picked up a job at scheels and got a great deal on a specialized hardrock sports disk 29
