2 best skiers on the planet right now

Candide out of the game? Are you fucking serious? Did you know that he won the Freeride World Tour in 2010? I would rather say he's "on top" of the game.

My two picks would be: Candide and Candide. Show me one other skier who has won X Games Gold in pipe, slopestyle, and big air, then turned around and won the Freeride World Tour.

he kills it for sure but i love leigh powis' style and the tc crew is the most innovative with their rail skiing

Park : Harlaut and Strenio or somebody

Backcountry: Tanner Rainville and Tim Durtschi

Big Mountain: I do not give a fuck

Allround: Dane Tudor and Sammy or P White

By the way, am I the only one who really don´t like the flat 3:s and 7:s Sammy did last year? I just think they´r ugly but I don´t know why... Otherwise he would definately be one of my favourite backcountry skiers.
 
I think Gus is the best all around park skier in the world right now. Kills it on jumps, rails, pipe and if you have seen Pretty Good, you would know he destroys urban too. My favourite big mountain skier is Sage
 
you kids are hilarious. Sage and Candide, or Henrik Winsteads and Hoji. sure as fuck not tammy or any other park rat
 
candide and sage/sammy/dane/hoji/tanner/abma/benchetler depending on what you put the most emphasis on. any talk about most well rounded skier has to have candide in the discussion tho

Riley, maybe, prolly not the best, but he's up there. And Powis is definitely one of my favorites, but not really even close to the best.
 
candide. for diversity of competition wins. fwt title, x-games slope and pipe wins. the dude can ski anything from handrails to park to bc jumps to heli lines, and is one of, if not the best, in every category.

FYI, most the skiers listed are amazing ski aerialist but probably couldn't carve a turn for shit.

i'd list bode miller over most of your park skiers.

Fransson skis shit that makes most poop their pants.
 
eh gotta be close between candide, hoji, maybe even someone like jon or darron ralves. I mean those guys rip al mountain, jon can throw doubles, and is an olympic level skier.
 
Big Mountain: Hoji and Seth and various assorted other tgr sponsored athletes
Backcountry Freestyle: Nimbus Crew
Huge Flippy Spinnies: Sammy and Bobby
Rail Game: Wesson and associates
Pipe: Rolland and Dorey, but it's hard to discount Simon and Xavier and Torin and the others
Personally my favorite skiers however, are Benchetler, Hoji, Sammy, P. White, Hornebeck, and Rainville.
You can't just have two "best skiers," because there's so many different types. For charging huge lines, few will ever match seth, mcconkey, and the gaffneys, but I sincerely doubt they'd be at home doing urban with ahmet or cam riley. It's all in what you want.

There are no 2 best skiers, there's just Candide and several skiers who rip in parts of freeskiing.
 
Candide is definitely on top. i think henrik winstedt is up there though. Slays big mountain as well as park (watch ready fire aim). After seeing attack of La nina, id say Richard permin is up there too. Skiing lines with sean pettit and then throwing dubs over a huge table in alyeska. Kye peterson should be mentioned as well. Abma is up there, hoji is up there. I feel like all these guys have proven that they killed it at park and now are just shredding big mountains.
 
Andreas Fransson is a fucking boss, the dude's got ice running through his veins. If anyone is interested in ski mountaineering check out his descent of Denali's south face.

Anway adding ski mountaineers into the mix will just make an already impossible debate even more fragmented. You have to acknowledge Dav and Ptor Spricenieks in that realm as well as countless others though.

Anyway for all round ski abilty Candide and Jon are undoubtedly in the upper tier. Both pushed park skiing to new levels but have also won big mountain comps and in Jon's case race.

He was also reportedly the first person to clear Chad's Gap - as a 16 year old. He then returned the follwing year and d-spin 7'd it on his third attempt. The guy was light years ahead.
 
I agree that there are many more skiers that are up on top with him. But the title is "right now" and some of the drops that Dane spun 7's off at Cold Rush last year put him right up there with the best. Sean Petit, Candide, Tanner, Sammy are all right up there too! (i'm forgetting more)
 
Agreed Dane is a beast. The level's so high right now that there are almost too many to name - Candide, Seth, Tanner, Abma, Sage, Hoji, Peterson, Dane and many more all throwing ridiculous things in a BC/big mountain environment.

As for "right now" though let's wait and see what Candide has been up to with his filming project. He has always been at the forefront of the sport since he was a kid and i've no doubt he's maintaining his standards.
 
Sammy's stock has exploded in the last few years. He slays in all of the segments that I've seen recently and On Top of the Hood was an awesome project that way surpassed my expectations. For someone as young as he is, that's massively impressive.

That being said, I wouldn't drop his name as one of the two best skiers in the world. Props to all of the people who mentioned Candide and Jon. If you're judging this based on skill in a wide variety of disciplines, no one comes close to the versatility that they exhibit. I don't really like Jon that much, but you have to respect a guy who can slay big air and then turn around and be an olympic contender in the racing world. Candide's competition record speaks for itself. Add that to the fact that he's releasing one of the most massively anticipated ski movies in recent memory soon. He owns this discussion.

Did anybody see that segment on World of Adventure Sports where Sage CA climbed Denali and then skiied down? that was pretty nuts. Anyway, two best skiers? Probably Candide and Sammy
 
candide won X-games when it was at a ridiculously low level compared to now. So quite frankly, the dude is a mediocre amatuer in park by todays standards.

The OG's like Sage, Candide, Hoji, Abma and Pep all started out shredding both lines and the park. now that they are older, and dont bounce like a 18 year old they exclusivly shred soft snow. they are not even remotely competetive in the comp scene anymore, so how can you say that they currently kill it in park?

Currently, if they had an all-discipline skiing contest Dane Tudor would wipe the floor with everyone. The level he skis at currently in all disciplines far exceeds any one else.

Oh, and if you dont know the story of Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, you really need to find out. Such a ridiculously feel good opportunistic story. He really is the fucking man.

And lastly, i have never seen Candide shred a true AK line. doesnt mean he cant, but i have yet to see him on a true AK face. I think his skiing style(similar to Sage's) is tailor made for that type of skiing, but it takes years up there to get on that kinda level.
 
I wouldn't exactly describe Tanner and Candide are OGs considering the shit that was going down on skis when they could barely walk.
 
Candide and Pettit for sure. They both are hitting massive lines and applying technicality to it.

But Travis Rice is still the best skier on the mountain!
