He was diagnosed with cardiac arythmia so decided to put a stop to this epic streak!

I was just trying to recall this guy the other day as I had read an article on him a few years ago. Talk about being dedicated and devoting almost a decade to skiing, Rainer is truly one of a kind.

Doing anything, not including waking up each day, for 8 years is pretty impressive. To think that he had to earn his turns for so many days & not just jump on a lift to get to the top of the hill even makes this feat that much more prolific.

I rode up the gondola with him at keystone earlier this season. Super hilarious guy, he told me that he and his friends were hot doggers a while back and that his hungover and high friend accidentally did one of the first dub backflips on accident on a practice mougle jump. He said his friend described it as "well I went for flip and saw the sky then the ground then the sky then ground and somehow I landed on my feet!" cool dude

What resort is open year round to do that?

I mean windells and CoC are open during the summer but not to ski like that?

read it...he couldn't he could have died when he took that run for 2993 he was hospitalized right after

if you would have read the story you would have seen this: "Along the way he became famous for skiing a pre-dawn run in Oregon each fall, then flying to Chile and heading straight to the slopes the following day."

OK so just to clear up some stuff about this guy that has been brought up. He works at Copper Mountain as a night cat operator. He was planning on stopping his streak this year anyways but I guess his illness forced the stop. I think he has some absurd number of vertical feet that he was trying to get to and then he was stopping.

He works at Mt. Hood during the summer and takes a trip down to Chile during the summer as well.

He also skis with tele bindings but I've never seen him actually do a tele turn.

100% agree. the people telling you to fuck off are the kids living on the east coast that get to ski 25 days a year.

that is absolutely insane.i have to imagine that there were a few days when he clicked in and skied to his mailbox just to keep the streak alive. regardless, that's incredible and a shame it ended the way it did.

no doubt. tell it like it is man. Skiing is great and all, but 8 years? And to answer someone's earlier question: I am guessing he doesn't have a wife or kids.
