Sorry to hear you guys didn't like the MRM set up. However, there was still some sic stuff being thrown down. Was good to see some other riders on 4frnt too.....

'That's disgusting'

'I'm going to tell her you said that'

^no, fuck mad river that place is a shithole, nothing was thrown down really worthy of a competition win, i mean when joking around and daffy spreads are thrown, we know its no longer a contest, i think we all shoul dhave dropped out that way the standings wouldnt have changed

Brian

but i am thinking o \f making th haul to hidden valley just so mitch doest walk away with a pair of skis haha, but yeah paoli should be a killer time as well, at least we know it cant be worse than madriver

Brian

i think that it is really lame to have a 4 stop series taking place all across the midwest (from columbus ohio to st. louis missouri) that doesnt consist of 4 solid stops. how in the hell is everyone expected to make the trek to every stop if you have shaky setups like madriver as part of the series? a freestyle series in the lower midwest is a great idea, but it needs to be much more effectively organized if the stops are going to be strewn over a 450 mile radius. long distances, bad setups, and even worse judging are the unfortunate cons of this would be novel series.

if i said it, it must be the truth!

Perfect North, Paoli, Mad River and Snowtrails as the final stop. That would be the bomb tour. It would mos def make the cover of GNAR TIMES!!! You would just have to make sure that the same people were judging at each stop. It wouldnt be a bad idea either to let the same people build the jump at each stop too. That would be a good tour.

^ thats stupid... jut because mad river is in it. It should just be three. Perfects, Paoli, and Snow Trails. (i think Snow Trails has something against Peak Resorts though). And it would be cool to have a consistent jump.... and at Mad River JD says 'Our snow cat is about 8 years old... we couldn't make the landing any steeper.' That bullshit. at perfects before we got the Park Bully the landings were decently steep. And as far as judging goes... Steve Pope, the guy who runs the MWX, just appoints Travis to find judges. He should find ones that know there shit, and can go to each stop.

whoa, der, chill out, rich didnt get 3rd, he was a bib # behind whoever got 3rd. i dont wanna be a dick, but ur 7 wasnt all that. i understand how bad it sucks to be fuckled by judges, but look at it from another view...who cares? its someone else saying his best trick was better than yours...does that matter? no. i dont mean to get all emo, but im pretty much done w/ comps. i like cruzing and throwing whatever i want better than having to throw my hardest shit everytime. tom didnt fall on any of his 3 hits at PNS big air, so grow up and know your shit before u talk it. its skiing.

Out here (in the west) where most styles are created, everyone these days is rockin the one shoulder backpack. You get yourself a tight pack like a Dakine or some random skate pack, and just drape that shiz over your right shoulder. That means when you are jibbin the park, you gotta do all your grabs opposite, with your left hand. Otherwise the pack will fall off your right shoulder and all the girls will gasp and think you have no steeze. Another thing to do with the pack has to do with when you are on a rail. Once you are securely on the rail, just let the pack slide off your shoulder and just hang that thing off your arm. This lets everyone know that you really don't care you are on the rail at all, thus making your steeze that much better. Plus when you 270 off, the pack whips around and takes out any gapers trying to snap pics of your fly ass.

Most everyone pays tribute to the creater of this style by rockin 'the kevin' almost every day. So if you see someone with mad 'the kevin' style, don't hesitate to go up to them and say 'Dude, your 'the kevin' steeze is so tight I think I am gonna go home and punch my mom in the face.' That will let the person know they are indeed cool, and that you will be rocking 'the kevin' steeze sometime soon.

everyone needs to cool off because the whole series is an atrocity. i say boycott midwest x and ski at snowtrails on your saturdays instead. i can't leave because i have to work terrain park crew every saturday, and my working experience would be a much more enjoyable one if i could ride with people every saturday, so drop this comp shit and come throw down in our park and have the best time this side of a free trip to pleasure town.

if i said it, it must be the truth!

I know I'll be at snowtrails this weekend. I loved the wallride at mad river with no transition. They take the ride into instead of ever popular ride on. Enough of these cheap ass metal 'boxes' too, they blow. Fuck MWX

*WOW* sry to hear that mad river was that bad....damn..i was there..and there was really no croud participation to get it heated up or ne thing...but..sorry u guys didnt have a good time...

yeah mitch you are all wrong dude...i deff scored rich very low.. hazel got third. what are u so worried about anyway...U got 1st at home and if u think MWX is a lame contest don't get so worked up about it.

people my bad this comp means alot to me bc i have something to prove to myself and to ppl not anyone in the skiing community its means very much to me just bc im 16 and i wanna go somewhere in my life in skiing to i try so hard to be the best and ya my bad for being cocky.

i forgive you. and i know my style is hucked, not grabbed, and whack. we sit and chuckle about it everytime we watch footage, or Damaged goods. Big air isn't my thing, and thats why i'm not worked up about it. And i bet if you can find 3 people to judge, that can go to St. Louis in a weeks notice, they will be allowed to judge.

there is so much lameness going on in this post i think it rivals snowblading.

its cool mitch.. good luck with trying to prove yourself though

i think the whole MWX thing is silly anyway... but it is a start

that snowblader video is quite possibly the funniest thing i have ever seen, the music choice is impecable. it looks like napoleon dynamite on a pair of snowblades. so hot right now!!!! everyone NEEDS to check that shit out

you are in the right place for sure, i was afraid to say anything about it

wait,i got thrid?, no my bib number deffinatley wasnt on the sheet, i was 123, hell, i dont know, mwx is gheyer than decker in his last post

Brian

the problem with mwx is its not very well organized, i ran the perfect north stop and i think that comp went quite well. everything was on time, and i think the judging was just fine (tommy didnt fall once that whole night in big air, and a few people thought the rail jam was bullcrap which mitch was in fact a judge, as was hazel) but i showed up at mad river and steve(the director of mwx) says 'hey so who are our ski judges' apparently i am in charge of all that now.... so i had to grab the 3 people that werent competing and throw them into judge spots (only alex was from fp) and we also have no input into what ski areas get on the series, i have talked to decker about getting snowtrails on the series instead of mad river and hidden valley but steve pope has final say not me, and he got a good deal by peak resorts.... hopefully next year we will be able to get consistant judges for all the stops and one person to make all the hits and a stop at snowtrails for sure. but steve isnt a big skier, much less a big air/rail jam skier, but he is still putting alot of time into running the contests, we just have to give him time to figure it out, and our input(constructive criticism) will help him figure it out, sorry this is long but thats my take...

Bob: i want Jon's autograph

me: i will see what i can do

Bob: u grab the swedish bastard by the ears and tell him bob dake wants his autograph and hand him my card

i am still wanting to know whats goin on with this gang bang that kyle was talking about, i am pretty amped about it!

if i said it, it must be the truth!

I haven't been on NS for awhile, but on a couple of thoughts...

Steve Pope of Urban Wilderness Design has put on this series. He hasn't allowed many of us much input into how it should be done, so its to be expected. I tried to talk to him and Jody Ream at Paoli Peaks about some thoughts on the series and how we should run things, but it never got done because of time and schedules.

And as far as each stop not being solid... We aren't sure how good what parks are... For instance... at Perfect's first rail jam of the year some boarder was from Mad river and i rode the lift with him to get some input and ideas and what not. He was a cocky snowboarder that felt he was too good for our comp. so i asked him what his park was like, and he proceeded to tell me how kick ass MRM park was and how they did this and that and all that jazz.. but it turns out that it blows hard. So if every park designer from every resort tells us that their park is awesome then how are we to know what is true?

I mean i've heard good things about Snowtrails but i've not been able to make it down (much like yourself Snowtrailsmark i have to work weekends at perfects) so what if Snowtrails park blows too? I'm sure it doesn't because of the people i've heard things from but still you never know. Anyway my point is that one can never know what they are jumping into. Like this weekend i'm driving 8 hours to a comp. in Missouri that i've never been to and i really don't know what to expect, and i can only hope it doesn't suck.

What i would like to see is a 4 or 5 stop series with snowtrails and maybe even a boyne or something added. With one person that is given the job of building the jump at each resort. Whether each resort builds what they think will work and then this Cat driver modifies it a bit or what not. Then i would like 3 judges for ski and board that travel to each stop and are the only judges, and i would like each of them to attend an official judging class (yes they have them)

Those are my thoughts, they are probably wrong and rambles but, i'm in this thing and i know what you people are talking about, but rather than just straight bitching about things we should critisize them and try and modify for next season.

Oh and i know talks about adding snowtrails for next season have happened, so i think that could be a step in the right direction.

yeah, i would love to see a well organized fun series through the midwest that had a gaggle of stops, making it possible for a multitude of people from different areas of the midwest to compete. it would be difficult to have one builder go to every stop, because who is gonna leave their job grooming the terrain park every weekend when their job is in highest demand? it would be alot easier if every resort had a solid park builder, from what i heard the perfect north jump was solid, and the snowtrails jump has been solid for a few years running now, its just going to be a difficult task to get the other places up to par.

and i know everyone tends to talk their park up, but snowtrails park is worthy of every word you have heard. (pardon my alliteration) i think we should have a fun weekend (film) session as soon as this midwest x jazz is complete. anyone else down??

if i said it, it must be the truth!

I agree with mark. One weekend full of cameras and alcohol would be sick. Can we please not do it the first weekend of march (5th and 6th) for as a few of us will be at the anti-gravity grail in vermont.

Carnival should be a fun weekend. But that is the same weekend as the paoli stop. Itll still be a blast, everyone should come join the fun.

ok call me out of the loop, but what does this 'not a solid stop' mean? I don't know what i'm hearing, but one stop doesn't count? how does that work?

I agree with the multiple stops and set judges. The groomer thing would be really hard too do beacuse of the fact cats are different and they can't leave thier resort on a weekend. However the idea of jump requirements might work. Something like each jump of the stop has to be a certain length with a set pitch of the landing and launch that could be altered if the conditions aren't going to work for that size of a jump. The judges should also be people who know what they are doing, but don't ride with a group of people that are in the comp.

Those are just my thoughts, i think they might work
