I read this book like 3 years ago, and still think about it constantly.

Anyone read Brave New World? It's totally different, but in the same way very similar. Both are excellent reads.

I read it... the ending was disturbing. Of course, it was Orwell, it wasn't going to finish in happy way, but that sentence (that is quoted in Fahrenheight 9/11) was eerily accurate of our era. The concept of Newspeak was also disturbing.

brave new world was so good. the guy that wrote it (huxley ?) was so ahead of his time. he was like a genius

we have to read that for our outside reading this marking period. i havent started it yet. we had to read A Clockwork Orange over the summer which is also one of those books that makes the future look really bad. We read Farenhiet 451 in eigth grade too, thats was another one of those futuristic books.
