181 Skis Too Long?

Hey guys, I'm about to buy twin tip skis which are 181cm long. I'm 5'7 (170cm) and about 175-180lbs. I'm about intermediate to advanced skier. The only thing is I've only ridden on 160cm skis which weren't twin tips. I know changing the length will take time to get used to but do you guys think I'll likely be a problem in the long run?

Oh and I'm getting these skis from a friend of a friend who's selling. Head Mad Trix Big Mountain which seem to be in good condition. I don't have the money to buy new skis this season which is why I'm considering them.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks :)

you might want to go see the sell and trade section, you might find some good deals from there aswell. Now as for your question, it's kinda personal preference. I would say get shorter skis if you ski park alot.

181's center mounted will not be that bad. being you are 5'7" and 175 tells me a 170-177 will be ideal but dont take the internet's word for it. if they are a friends, why not try them out first?

a ski knows how much you weigh, not how tall you are. I'm 6'4 and i've been between 175-185 pounds since high school and now i'm a junior in college and 181 has been my park size since then. if you're strong, long skis will make you better depending on the mounting location. go for it, those are good skis and for a good deal you shouldn't have a problem.

Hey thanks the replies! I

think I'll do just that, freeskibum82, about trying them out for a day. I'll just try to make

my way to a ski hill before he finds a buyer haha. If they don't work out then

I'll head over to the sell & trade section for something a bit shorter as twatt_chaurus mentioned.

Thanks emopoppins, yea he's selling them for $80 which is practically nothing since he just wants a fast sale. If I do go with them I'll probably have to move the bindings for center mounting (they're mounted a bit aft at the moment).
