180mph on Autobahn

Only V8 I can handle. All other ones sound like shit. And to add. When I drove one of these at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It fucking goes. That's a fact.

Pretty funny that it's only a 6.2 liter and Mercedes puts 6.3 badges on it.

I'm more of a V10 and V12 person. Love that high pitched humm. Not to mention the tranny's in most V10 or up cars sound like race transmissions which is just epic.

Ooops always forget that the 430 and 458 are V8's. Those sound pretty good.
 
My cousin took me for a joyride on a stretch of the Autobahn in Eastern Germany in his BMW about six years ago. Not sure exactly how fast we hit, but it felt like we were haulin'!

fastest I have ever been passed was by a stage 2 underground racing lambo in a road rally a few years ago- he was doing a flyby of the whole group and I was rolling at 80 and he passed well over 200- shook my car like crazy
I never break 130 when traffic is around- however in my s4 I was fucking with a ctsv on the way home from ny- he was cruising at 120- not trying to race just literally driving at 120- any way got behind him- he took off for a little- I decided to really see what my car could do- I passed him as he was doing 120 I crested 160 and let off at 164- slowed down to 80 and he rolled past still doing 120 haha

Also the SLS was never meant to be a track car, it was made to coddle businessmen and motoring enthusiasts at high speeds on motorways such as the Autobahn... So are there any other automotive gems you'd like to share with us today from your inexhaustable treasure trove of information?
 
I drove my car 122 (outback wagon) its not very stable at that speed lmaoI drove my friend bmw X5si 143 on the open Maine highways, I could've gone 155 atleast, but we couldn't see over the ridge and didn't want to risk it.

While visit family in Poland uncle took his SRL company car (lmao) out an we did 180ish on the autobahn, and later did 63mph in reverse, that was defiantly way better haha.

But you missed the C63 - which sounds epic... i know. Same engine as the SLS in the vid...
Wiki and AR6 know what's up with cars - I have driven the SLS quite a lot, and it's super fun and brutal quick - not a track car, but a true AMG monster. The 7 speed in mine will go full manual, using the paddles, allowing you to take the car all the way to red line (whole dash light's up in Red and says "Up" when approaching RL - which is cool, especially at night). The sound on downshift is pure sex - especially all the exhaust burbles.... doing this in tunnels and underpasses is awesome!
The dual clutch transmissions these day's shift so much faster then anyone using a manual - but the reason people don't necessarily like them is because they take away from driver engagement - but i think the extra shift speed makes up for it in some ways.
I test drove a manual Aston Martin V8 Vantage S about 2 weekends ago and admit that I miss a manual transmission, even in a GT car like that.... i am quite smitten with the AMV8 S... :-)

 
Ahh but see. what you don't realize is that the engine is slightly different in the C63. And I also have driven a SLS on a race track. And I can tell you its fast as shit. Smoked the time I ran in my fathers E46 M3
 
I agree completely with you on the m3, this guy who goes to my school has one and it sounds like complete shit. My mom's mustang sounds better, even my friends range rover. I don't about the corvette, depends on which one you're talking about, I've heard a CTS-V and its fucking gnarly. And what about the RS4 engine, that sound is probably my favourite in a car, at least a realistic one. The Lambo countach is probably my favourite
 
Wasn't that a V12? Cause I'm pretty sure it's of the same line of Lambo's that had V12's. Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, and Reventon right?

^^two posts up garentee you cant even drive yet...in todays motor world...generally manuals get worse mileage than automatics because of how autos are controlled by computers and what not for optimal mileage , performace, etc.
 
Yeah, it's been that way for atleast 5 years now. What pisses me off though. Is like you'll tell someone you have a manual car. And they're like "oh yeah I have like a setting where I can change gears by pushing forward for up and pushing back for down." I just facepalm and walk away.

Lol yeah. I completely agree. What I hate though is when people don't consider sequential gearing manual. It is classified as automatic. But I don't get it. It's not automatic, and its' not manual. It's sequential.
 
Oh you mean specifically 2012 models. I was thinking about like older year cars that are still sold with V12's. I guess the Aventador would be the only true 2012 V12 model.
 
Well, officially a sequential doesn't change for you, it facilitates your gear changes, usually by engaging a clutch for you while you change gears. You'll notice this in many race cars in which it just looks like the guys ripping the shifter back and forth.

Automatics do everything for you, and this also includes paddle shifting. In pure automatics, you put it in gear and the car does everything else. Similarly in paddle shifting you put it in gear and just hit a button when you want to shift and the car again takes care of everything. i.e.- Revs, torgue etc are all regulated by the car during gear changes.
 
Sequential gearing works sort of like "tiptronic" or whatever it's called. shift up is backwards and shift down is forwards. There is no clutch pedal for you to press. When you pull the shifter to go up or down the system disengages the clutch, selects the next gear, then reingages the clutch. The reason It's still should be classified as a manual is because you manually have to tell the car to change gears. It's not like automatic where if you get to a certain RPM it changes for you (even in tiptronic). Also, if you were to be on a race track and were to have spun out and stalled. You would have to get the car rolling again in order to get back moving. Although most street cars have a system that will automatically switch back to first or neutral if you were to spin and stall. So in my opinion still manual because the car won't change gears automatically for you. You still have to tell it when to change. I tried to make this as least technical as possible.
