when i was over there with my dad we hit 130 mph in our rental car... But it was insane because people were still blowing past us. And also notice how much better drivers they have there than we do in the states. There arent any idiots sitting in the left lane barely doing to speed limit, and they move over for cars that are going really fast.
 
theres a reason manuals are becoming used less and less....becasue manumatic and tiptronic transmissions are much more efficient in terms of gas mileage, shifting speed, and car performance
 
This! For a racetrack, manual might be a better choice, but since the Autobahn is just a big long straight... :D

Sadly, even in Germany more and more people block the left lane :/ But all in all, drivers here are allright.
 
When i went there we did 140 ish, it was ridiculous. Even though they drive so fast they're still better drivers than 99%of americans. Goddamn i miss germany
 
the only manual for this car is paddle shifting, most of the super cars use paddle shifting because they can change gears in less than a second using double clutch gearbox's
 
gotta be so careful about the slow cars pulling out to pass the slower cars. like the green car towards the end almost did.
 
i go to germany every other year and sometimes consecutive years i was there 1 month and a week ago, in my aunts husbands grandparents merceds slr we went 200 on it, some people go 80mph on it and its scary cause ur constantly weaving in and out of slow cars

I would love to drive a car that goes that fast.... perhaps not on a public road though because you never know what other drivers will do.
 
Agreed but the comment posted earlier about automatics passing manuals in terms of performance, fuel economy etc. is totally true. If I remember right I was watching some show and they were saying automatic transmissions are getting to the point where in 5 years most race cars will be autos
 
lol i was doing 120 in my golf on our local highway, it is smooth as a whistle at that speed and could maybe hit 140 or 150 if i really got it going. and its a manual so its way more fun than should be legal. it probably has a limiter on it but i havent hit it yet. (2001 golf gti?)

agreed, honestly fuck automatic. the whole point of having a fast car is for it to be fun anyways, tiptronic isn't any better either. Manual is not even comparable in terms of fun.
 
my stick shift jetta got 52mpg when i drove it to oregon. had to fill up twice the week i was there, that includes there and back.

 
lol the ignorance in this thread regarding a dual clutch semi automatic transmission is amazing.

Why do people buy fast cars?- to go fast. These transmissions can shift faster than you can blink, dont carry the same chances of messing something up, and can dish out better performance in every single facet. The only reason you still see manual transmissions in certain race cars is due to the fact that sequential or assisted transmissions have weight penalties associated with them in certain racing.
Have you ever played around with a clutch designed to handle 500 ft lb of tq? It is a major pain in the ass.
Also most launch control systems require adaptive clutch control as well as being able to shift fast enough for the car.
If you want to experience driving- go buy a 5 speed miata- but if your spending this kind of cash to go fast without being in a purpose built race car- then expect a dct of some kind.
If i had the cash every car I have ever owned would be a sequential conversion.

 
dam, and i thought goin 130 was fast. its hard to keep your speed though cause theres always people goin like 90 in the left lane.
 
thank you. so much. Just because you enjoy driving a manual doesn't mean you can deny the fact that double clutch transmissions are technologically superior in next to every single way
 
completely false. manuals are much more fuel efficient. you have better control of your rpms, which means how hard your engine is working. autos, you have no control over your rpms which means, your gas mileage is what it is. manuals preform better because they are more responsive and shift smoother (depending if you can drive a standard well or not).
 
Damn I wish Americans moved over like that. I also wish bastards wouldn't speed up when you go out to pass. Some Oregon bitch in a Subaru had a real bad case of that when I was coming back from BC.
 
i've seen this phenomenon as well. when the road opens up to two lanes and you have to go 130km/h to pass these assholes that were only going 85 before it opened up.
 
Fuck I know, 100 km/h 2 lane road and as soon as it opens up to a 4 lane for passing, everyone all of a sudden speeds up to 125 like they are defending there spot.
 
Oh that too! On the highway up to my mountain, it's two-lane besides an eight mile stretch of four lanes with a wide shoulder and the speed is 60mph. Everyone wants to go 70, give or take a few mph, and then go slow as fuck when it goes back to two lanes with no shoulder and gets windier. So what do I have to do? Haul ass up a road with that's patrolled by CHP to get past all of the bitches that can't handle a fucking two lane road.
 
You realize that, say, the Bugatti Veyron is an automatic right? Almost all high performance Mercedes are automatic.
