they shoot with them because they have higher resolution than SD cams, aka video standard of today. plus they are able to shoot with higher frame rates so you get smooth slow motion shots that look great for action shots. HD cameras come pretty close to matching film but HD cams that can have variable frame rate, cinema gamma like color processing and shoot high quality video at 1080p cost over $100,000. prosumer HD cams are coming out though which are a lot better than current cams but still have a ways to go. Sony recently released 2 versions around the $4000 to $5000 range in price

ya sony has the hdr-fx1 out right now, and jvc has a hd cam that shoots 1080i out right now, but ya 16 looks super good, but look at josh b who is using digital and i think high 5 looks pretty damn good for being digital, 16 is still better though

Why don't u just go suck a fuck!.....'Oh really!? Tell me how exactly does one suck a fuck???

Your such a fuck ass! 'Did you just call me a fuck ass?! lol' *little girl comes in and says* Whats a fuck ass?

yea I like both 16mm and HD. 16mm has this natural 'grainy' feel to it, making it seem very hollywood/ professional, and good HD can also have really vibrant colors. My dad just got sponcered by Kodac so i get free 16mm film haha its ill.

yeah you're right, the digital cams of comparable quality are huge compared to a 16mm cam. i use a big ass sony DVCAM at school and the thing is a monster. then you start adding shit like batteries (which they eat super fast) that you have to lug around and you're gonna have one aching shoulder standing next to a rail or a jump for an hour or so. haha, i'd hate that

stop complaining? sooooo cheap? got news for you buddy...for most of us who are on this site, to drop 4-5 grand on one camera is way out of the realm of possibility. i don't know which post the '^' was meant for, but noone here has complained about the price of the camera yet. it was mentioned that film developing is expensive, but that's it. if it happened to be directed towards me and my last post, just so you know i do have a good camera, sony PD150 to be exact, but that has nothing to do with anything. threads like these, especially ones which have been completely positive (until you showed up), are simply to discuss and help each other decide which route to take when getting into this shit. nothing more or less
