16 inch Ops Gear Barrel

not a clue, but i have a question, on their mods for the markers, how come they dont turn the clip into a expansion chamber?

Ben if you still want the range...might as well go with the flatline.

Anything over 14" doesnt have any signifcant distances advantages.

My neighbor owns ops gear. Sick gear and its all super high quality. Most of it is used for tactical training for swat teams and armed forces around the country.

If your buying it for the range your dumb, painball barrels have no effect on range, just accuracy and consistancy sometimes volume. The only barrel with added range is the flatline but that sacrafices accuracy. I for a inexpensive barrel I would look at the J&J Ceramic, Lapco Bigsot, or CP One-Piece.

the J J ceramic is the shit, and fairly cheap

the flatline in a podunk woodland game (less wind), if calibrated right that can be dead on from yrds and yrds away

Going with 16" actually hurts more than helps. Like was said above, anything about 14" isn't helping you. The added two inches cause more friction on the paintball, slowing it down, as well as more porting so you need more gas (whether its CO2 or N2) to propel the ball the same distance.

JJ Ceramic barrels are good, very light. CP has some nice ones, my personal favorite is the Dye Boomstick, but thats a little pricey.

thanks guys.

I decided not to get the flat line. I got to play a game with it and I chopped a balled within ten seconds of play. Fucking bullshit, and cleaning that thing was a mother.

I also got to play with the J and J ceramic 14 barrel, got 7 kills and the flag cap. was very proud and each kill only took two shots. great barrel.

last question, the lapco big shot, is that thing any good, it looks fucking loud?

I like this C2 barrel. Im not a rich man so i cant afford to buy anything but the shitty walmart paint and i fthat breaks in the ops gear barrel, its no good for me

a)flatlines can lick my balls

b) the only really imprtant thing is that your barrel matches your paint, so take the paint that you use regularly into a shop and find a barrel that is the right size for it.

and if you dont consistantly use the same paint then a you'll be far better off with a barrel kit if you can afford one

a 16 inch barrel isnt fun. trust me i had one and i used to dig it into the sand every time i dove. and anyway its just louder and not very air efficient.

listen to ryno. he told me to get an All American 14". so i did. best barrel i have ever used (and i've used my friend's flatline).

seriously. go to www.smartparts.com and look at the All American. you won't be disappointed.

i have a 98 custom too. i've still got my 16" J&J, its a great barrel but not nearly as good (IMO) as the all american.

they are both great barrels but seriously look at the all american. i love it.

oh i also forgot, if you're playing speed ball (which it doesnt sound like) you dont need a 16", and if you're playing woods ball, well, you still dont need a 16". i kept bumping mine on branches and stuff when i went to turn. and whoever said he stuck his in the dirt when he dove...yeah happened to me too. not good, then you gotta squeegee it out.

I never really played milsim or woodsball but if you're playing speedball you might want to go for a 16 in. barrel so you can lean farther into airball bunkers and still have the barrel able to come out. I use a 14 in. CP barrel on my timmy, it's like $40 and is def. the best barrel for that price. If you want to get into more expensive stuff check out the Stiffi Carbon fiber barrels, or an Ultralight. Not trying to brag but I used to play a lot of paintball and was sponsored by my local shop so I've had the chance to use a lot of different gear. I still have a completely 2.5'd Dragon Timmy except for the 2k2 gen behive lpr it has lots of upgrades if anyone wants to buy it its on pbn and pbr for $600. As far as spec ops, or any milsim gear goes I think its garbage but that's probably because I always played airball or hyperball. The milsim stuff is designed to look like real guns, which isn't really what paintball's about. Milsim gear is designed to look cool rather than perform well.

Your an idiot. This barrel is pretty good, but personally I would go with a barrel kit. Such as the EVIL kit. If you can't afford that. Get a Dye Ultra light.

both the j&j and lapco barrels provide great performance for their low price. i have friends that use these barrels on 98's and absolutely love them. yes the lapco is one of the louder barrels available but honestly the 98 is not a quiet gun.

now any aftermarket barrel will be worlds better then the stock one but as stated above the best thing you can do is to have a good paint size to barrel match. the best match is to drop a paintball into the barrel, it should get stuck somewhere in the barrel but you should be able to blow it out. this will yeild the best accuracy and range. if it gets jammed and you cant blow it out than the barrel is too small for the paint, if it rolls out the barrel is too big for the paint. this is why barrel systems such as the smartparts freak kit or the evil pipe kit are so effective. you did say that you tend to use walmart paint. cheaper paint such as this tends to run very big so if you cant afford a barrel kit then i would reccommend finding a barrel with a quite large inner diameter(bore size), for refference i believe the largest insert in my freak kit is a .693 or .695 bore and even that is sometimes too small for real cheap paint.

as for other barrels, smartparts does make great barrels for range and accuracy, the smartparts progressive is relatively cheap(under $40) and is very accurate. i personally have a freak kit and love i have found that smartparts barrels do not shoot well through breaks. basically if you break a ball in the barrel it wont be shooting too straight until you clean it out. my friends evil pipe on the other hand, you break a ball and take 2 more shots and your good to go. sorry for the essay here but i hope that helps some.

i would be pretty skeptical. it might be nice for looks but it doesnt have any porting which could have some pretty bad effects on accuracy.

Don't go with a Progressive, or Freak or anything Smart Parts, Evil makes an alright Barrel, if you want top end go with a Stiffi like I, and that other guy said earlier. and to the guy that said get an autococker wow, those are the most out dated gats, although I like they way they shoot, just not fast enough for today's game, even with an E2 & ZeroB they can't quite keep up. Back to barrels: I'd go for a CP one piece, definately the best barrel for the price, or get something used off pbnation or pbreview.

^ i dont know what you have against SP but they honestly make quality accurate barrels. and keep in mind he plays rec ball with a tippman 98 so i dont think he plans on droppin a ton into a tournament level gun.

Ya SP barrels aren't bad but for the price the CP 1 piece is much better. I actually like the All American but I think it's a bit overpriced and the Progressive and Teardrop I've had bad experiences with both. I haven't used the new Freaks but I hear they are pretty good. J&J also has some nice barrels, didn't really like the ceramic though. Another thing: the review on pbreview aren't actually that great, if you want better info go to the forums on pbr or pbn.
