159 or 169???

ok im about 5'6 or 5'7 and i need new skis. im deffinitly getting K2's cuz my dads friend can get me the public enemies for bout $200 or less. my problem is should i get the 159's or the 169's??? im right in between them both. personally i think i should get the 159's, but my friend is pushing me to get the 169's. any opinions?????

 
if ur a good skier, get 169s, if u are new to the twintip thing, then get 159s so u can control them and learn on them, but if ur decent skier definetly get 169s

 
yea, i personally like longer skis. however, it depends on what you are using them for too. if you are only an ok skier and using them for mostly park, the 159 will be easier to throw around, but the 16 will be sooo much better all over and not much tougher to huck once you get used to them. my vote is for the 169s

wellll ive only been skiing for 4 weeks. all ive skied so far is pretty much just park. im bad at normal skiing, but ok in the park. and im going to try to get better at normal skiing.

 
Hey get the 169's, they will be so much better for skiing all over the mountain. Believe me. Also I feel that a longer ski makes landings easier to stomp. Don't go 159 you will regret it later. Plus you will look like a bitch.

 
This is why I hate skiing nowadays.

Kids that don't know how to ski at all, but buy some skis and head straight for the park.

definetly get the not only will it be easier to ski outside the park but it makes the ski stabler. Plus u won't have to get new skis next year

 
at your height... 159s shouldnt even be in the picture.

even if its your first time on skis you will have no problem on a 169.

if i were you i would be debating on 169 and 179.

get whatever you can ski better on. fuck what people here say about getting super tall skis. id go with the 159s

^ 169 is not super tall

im the exact same height as him and 170's are shorter then me.

i just wouldnt go any taller then that for a rookie.

^^ you teach skiing to a bunch of kids that have never even put on ski boots before. obviously shorter rental skis are going to be more beneficial.

in this case however, that is clearly not the case.

yeah , ive got alot better at just skiing, and im confident in bigger skis, instead though im gonna prolly get 165's or 167's.
