alright guys. buying a mac. no ifs ands or buts about it.

jk one question

13 inches or 15?

i would rather spend 400 dollars less but will i be missing out on that much because its 2 inches shorter?

(shit on me for getting a mac if you want but ive made up my mind)

the 13" pro shouldn't be called the pro, it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, so its just a 13" air with a DVD slot and a harddrive

get the 15", there's benefits in both the retina and non-retina models

This.

15 is worth it for the graphics card.

Now if only you could get a retina display and a dvd drive in the same model...

if you are a student who doesnt really need to do video editing and intensive programs, 13inch is fine. a little more portable and light

graphics cards increase screen resolution and fps. A better graphics card will take the rendering load off your cpu so intensive programs such as editing, videos, and games will run smoother and at a higher picture quality

Not to mention separate audio in/out ports, and a quad core processor, and anti glare screen as an option (though not on the retina)

why not get a mini? you could buy a mini and an ipad for the same price as the 13.

If you are doing any heavy graphical work then get a real tower.

this. if you want a mbp, no point in getting the 13. the 15 is way more powerful/better, and is actually worth the rediculous price tag

if you want to get something for fb/ns, look for a cheaper windows with a decent processor and memory

I have had the 13" for years. Just got a 15" screen. Not sure If I could go back after seeing what it is like. It's so much nicer to be able to have two windows open side by side when I would previously be switching back and forth. Although I was looking at my brothers MBP and it is quite a bit heavier than my old macbook. The new thin one is a little bit heavier than my old laptop but is actually less of a paint to haul around because it is thinner.

Basically I will be able to get a lot more done at school when I would previously go home and plug into my other screen. It's awesome!

I love my 13", I only use it for web/light editing and stuff on the go as I have a nice powerful 24" iMac on my desk :)

ya but 15" you get quad processor.....I wouldn't downsize mine ever! Plus you have side speakers..

And you don't look like a bitch//

I have had both the 13in and 15in. 15 is too big. Unless you're going for graphic design or photo or video or something like that, the 13 will be fine. And if any of those were the case you'd be better with a macpro or imac anyway.

personally i would take the 13 if the specs were the same but if your using it for more labor intensive stuff like video editing you want more ghz and whatnot, i would just google it.

i have a 13" 09 MBP and i love it. easy to store and carry. i wouldnt pay an extra $400 for a bigger screen. id much rather spend that on software and other stuff for it.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the $400 is a lot more than a bigger screen, they are completely different computers, the 13" should not be called "Pro"

the thing is that the 13 wont be able to handle the software as well. it may run it, but it will be slow as shit and prone to crashing. get the 15 that can actually run a program other than microsoft office and safari/explorer/firefox, and eventually buy something like cs6 or whatever you want

I run cs6, fcp, and a few other programs on it... never crashed once.

The new i5's have a seperate core for graphics load. It rarely effects the performance of the mac overall. The resolutions are the exact same between a card and the onboard. You will notice a difference in 3d rendering and some hd playback if you were using an external display.

For the most part, unless you want a faster dual core i5, a slightly better graphics card, bigger screen/higher resolution, than the 13 is fine.

All depends on what you're using it for. As its been said, if you're getting a computer just to use the internet, maybe write papers, etc. then get the 13". But, if you doing any kind of photo./video work get the 15", its worth the upgraded stats and screen size.

I'd almost check out a mb air if you're just using it for internet, its so light and thin. If I was in a situation where i didnt need a ton of computer speed, id get a mba. Also, you can save a few hundred bucks buying your computer refurbished from apple.com

I'd recommend these computers to you for internet/whatever

go to Apple store online to look at them

see this

charging $100 for 250 GB more.

HA!

you can buy a whole new high end 1 TB laptop HD for that much.

the difference between a 500 GB and 750 GB laptop HD is about $20 at most.

I'm sorry if you're a mac lover. But you have to be a fucking retard to buy anything from them.

Dude every company does this though. Apple maybe a little bit more but If you look at a comparable dell you pay $100 for an extra 250gb and an extra 2 gigs of ram.

And I couldn't be more stoked on my new macbook. I gave everyone a really fair shot. Almost bought a lenovo until the new macbook came out. This was by far the best laptop I saw so I bought it.

It's got a quad core i7, the highest resolution 15" screen you can buy, a light up keyboard (nearly lenovo quality), amazing battery life and is less than 3/4" thick. Most importantly though it is built solid. You can hold it by one corner, it has no flex in it. Also you don't have to pay for windows.

Show me a laptop that is anywhere near as good as this.

I asked it in a thread awhile ago. I didn't want to buy an apple. No one could show me a computer that was as good, let alone better than a macbook pro for any cheaper. In fact you cannot show me a laptop at any price point better than this (in before some huge disgusting gaming rig)

13 13 13! Mine is 13" and it is great no problem on movies or anything. I have tried the 15" and it is not worth the extra money.

well thanks for all the input guys. i use cs5 for school a lot and i do some occasional editing of what ever my friends and i film so i went with the 15" (typing this from it right now). I figured i would use it enough everyday to make it worth the mad amounts i dropped on it!

also i should add that the local high school in my town puts out a "Badger discount card" that has like 100 reusable deals for all the local shops, and best buy offers 15% off any purchase on there, so i used that and saved quite a bit of money
