So NOAA is saying 3-7" Friday night up there. I'm staying optimistic. Potential for some fun this weekend if it doesn't melt too quick.

i went up today and tried for fucking ever to set up the black rail where the purple rail used to be.... ended up falling over after the 3rd attempt. If anyone goes tomorrow or FRi try to set it up and brings lots of water!

And where are other dope rails? I brought a red one up there thats next to where the purple one used to be so i think because of my generous donation I have the right to know

lol

The rails at brighton weren't set up by snake creek. I walked right past where they usually are. But this was the conditions today.

We had a pretty sweet 2 rail setup at guardsman going, south side of the road and up a bit, a little kicker in there as well.

if anybodys going up soon, i broke a piece off of my bumper on my car in gaurdsmans....in the ditch in one of 2 spots where i slid a little off the road, probably pretty obvious spots. the piece that broke off is a 1 1/2' little plastic lip piece. if anybody could take a quick look, maybe find it and PM me that would be excellent. thanks!

Everything in candyland was locked up yesterday - and employees were everywhere - someone built a sketchy lip onto the flat milly pole though

Still a shit ton of snow up at Snowbasin. Someone had a small kicker and rail set up at the bottom. Skinned up to the top of Needles and had a hell of a first run of the season

Went up today and hit up a couple spots, it was pretty sweet. Came across the Traveling Circus crew towards the bottom with a fun dfd box.

A few minutes after we got there a cop showed up with a megaphone saying they were closing the canyon and we needed to leave immediately if we didn't want our cars towed. Packed up, got back up to the top right next to rocker gap, and the same cop looked like he was writing tickets for all the cars parked there. Luckily we got there right before he got to ours. Fun day though.

i was up at blown zone? (y shaped wood rail and a down bar) friday, fun as fuck also ran into some more spots on the ride down

Getting booted with Will, Steve, Kutch and all those guys who kindly let us sesh their rail setup was fun. Solid time at the Pass as always this weekend.

Because kids think they own National Forest Land and don't want people hitting their homemade PVC junk.

Serious stuff....

Because we put in a lot of hard work putting up a bunch of features and we don't want other people hitting or shit and being disrespectful/destructive.

Realize it's guardsmans but I'll ask this since it's preseason related. Has anyone hiked up Alta recently? Planning on going Saturday if snow will hold out these next couple of days.

Alta was pure bushwhacking even right after the storm. A week of temps in the 50s/60s has probably killed it again for now. PowMow or Snowbasin will be the only places still skiiable by the weekend, and even there the lower elevations are gonna be bony (they were last Saturday)- you'll need to skin up a good bit if you really want to open it up.

i can understand that u guys put in time n effort to make that shit but i went up there with some kids and the vibe was horrible. its pre season and everyone is stoked. ive never been to a spot pre season with more negative vibes and serious attitudes since ive been in utah

Saw this last year too. I went up with some friends to the one spot with the split wood rail, big tube, and some down bars, and it looked like everyone was having a good time. Basically we showed up and they wouldn't let us hit anything because we were skiers. "This is a snowboarders only zone" that kind of shit. We thought they were joking, so my friend hit one of the down bars and one of the other people pushed him over and told us to get the fuck out.

Luckily I haven't seen that this year, but still, one of the weirdest vibes.

I dont understand the whole snowboard vs. ski thing. But sounds like you went to the bonezone. Those guys are definitely a little protective and I really dont blame them. It was one thing the last few years when everyone hit the purple rail. But if people are building their own spots and putting a lot of work into them, its probably ok to tell people to leave. And sure its not their land, but I feel like they still have the right to simply tell people to leave. I wouldn't want random people breaking a spot I built.

Fair point. We did have one friend who was snowboarding with us that day, and they said he could stay. So it felt like it was completely based on the fact that we were skiers. Although I do see your point about being protective of a spot.

Being worried about letting too many people hit your rail is understandable, but still pretty dumb and selfish. Not letting someone hit your setup because they ski or snowboard is absolutely retarded.

I say if you're going to be a dick and care about either of those things, hike your shit up to the middle of nowhere. You put the work in to get it out of the high traffic areas if you want to be selfish and secluded.

We put our spot in a place where we thought no one was going to find it. They did. Obviously we have the ability to tell people we don't want them hitting out spot, there's nothing we can ACTUALLY do about it but if you want to be respectful then that's awesome

Its one thing when its one rail, but its another thing when its multiple features. I didn't build any of these spots, so I don't have any say. I just understand when people are territorial. I mean, no person likes when other dudes bang their girlfriend, right?

Yeah but the difference here is that it's something that we spent the time, effort and money on. None of these random kids did any work to help out and they aren't giving us anything in return. We might even be more lenient if some jackass hadn't stolen our shovels, hatchet, saw and other tools that we had lugged up there to build it. We don't know who it was, it wasn't one of us, but whoever stole our stuff obviously knows where the spot is and they could be up there hitting it which isn't cool. Think about it. Have you ever been pissed when someone tries to mooch something off of you that you worked really hard on?

Have the jibbers every thought about maybe going somewhere other than the tiny spot on the back of 10420 to hit rails? There are plenty of other spots that get early season snow.
