I don't know what you all think, but this article is soo bad for skiing.I talked to my friend Grete. And she is pissed Freeskier put her in that article without telling her. she thinks it degrades women and ruins everything for the girls if Freeskier keeps doing that dumb aritcle

Yeah I just talked to Grete and she said pretty much the same thing. However I think they should have included like Ashley and Kim as well.

Grete says, 'how are girls going to start skiing if they wont because they´re not at all pretty.'

shes proves a point, however Freeskier won't stop doing it because its what sells and money is above all in any industry...

On the other hand Parker and Cummings are looking really hot!

I've never been much of a fan of the 'Women of Freeskiing' issue, but still, remember that Freeskier's readership is like 97% male, and that shit sells. At least they threw in shots of them skiing, too.

I'll tell you what the problem with it is:

Freeskier really could care less that these girls ski. I'm pretty conviced they are more interested in shots of Jess Cummings in her underwear and pushing their 'FHM' vibe on skiing than actual raw skiing tallent. They'll argue all day long otherwise, but until they produce a piece on womens skiing that features nothing but womens skiing (not barley legal girls in their underwear combing each others hair) I won't buy it.

Grete is a perfect example of this, aguably the best woman freeskier of they year last season, coming out of completly out of nowhere and winning the two most major events that women can compete in, The Rip Curl at Sass Fee, as well as

The US Freesking open Slopestyle.

Instead of having a double page spread at the front of the article hailing her achivments, she's put in the very back of the article with minimal coverage. Somthing tells me this is because she wasn't around for 'the lets get half naked photo shoot' that the girls up in the front of the article participated in.

Furthermore, the way freeskier magazine casts the light on womens skiing as a sexual exposé sends the wrong message to young girls getting into the sport. Its telling them hey, if you wanna be a pro female skier, you better take off your clothes for our cameras.

and Ethan, I don't even agree with the 97% male readership card either. If they need scantilly clad ski girls in their magazine to boost readership, then they are doing somthing wrong with the rest of their 'ski' magazine.

Alright, have any of you ever gone out and asked people what they wanted to see in a magazine? For the target audience of my magazine the top 4 things they wanted to see (Both male and female) was:

a) Original content

b) Informative, well written Content

c) Humor

d) Pictures of pretty people

Ok, so it didn't exactly make the top 3. Big whoop. The point is that the target audience of the magazine wants to see that kind of stuff. Why do you think Freeze has the liftie of the month and the gear girls and all. Ifyou don't want to see pictures of hot chicks (or guys) than you are in the severe minority (especially if you are part of the target audience), and in my opinion, you have something wrong with you.

On a side note, most sponsors will go for the hot chicks first because they want some pretty tits representing their company. You also gotta remember that skiing is a very intensive sport and so only the athletic, in-shape people make it. There aren't too many fat people or out of shape people that are into skiing, let alone extreme skiing or freeskiing...

First of all, sex sells, (magazines and ski product) so get off the high horse. Secondly, nobody put a gun to Jess', Jen's, Lynsey's, Michelle's, or Lisa's head. They made their own choices to appear in Freeskier this way. Outside of Michelle Parker (who I never heard of before this issue), you can't honestly say that these girls don't deserve to be covered. Their on-slope exploits over the previous season warranted their consideration.

Four of the six other athletes have participated in the sexy issue before, which only leaves Grete and Wendy. Wendy has done suggestive shoots in the past. That leaves Grete standing alone in the position of high-profile female skier with less (or more, depending on the perspective) coverage.

An old friend of mine once told me:

"Hey if I can rip down a mountain and have the guys go 'Whoa!' and follow that up with stripping down to my skivvies and have the guys go 'WHOA!', then all the power to me, don't you think?"

Don't confuse female empowerment with feeble attempts at political correctness by saying the rag is sexist... you still aren't getting laid.
