I have the dark colored(grape) promodel boots from a year or 2 ago and I got them this year, I have skied on the like 7 times and they are destoying my shins and left ankles. It hurts soo bad that I ahve to take the weekend off. like my ankle got swollen up so the boot doesn't fit. If I strap in tight then it cuts off all the circulation and my foot falls asleep. what should I do? Cause I know they are supposed to be really comfortable and the guys at a ski shop said I had the right shaped foot for them.

a conversation between two skiers:

skier 1 ' have you seen those new skis with the tips in the front and back yet'

skier 2 'no but I heard about those things'

Skier 1 ' yeah I don't see why they would want tips in the back...maybe they are try'n to copy those stupid snowboarders or something like that'

skier 2 'Yeah seems like kind of a stupid idea.'

obviously the guys at the shop were wrong.

At any rate, since you've skied them, you have to find a way to modify them. My suggestion is to go to a boot fitter, fork out the 50 bucks, and get those suckers fitted correctly. It could very well be a canting issue. A way to test that is to take out the liner, stand in your boots without any socks or anything on your feet/legs etc. stand with your feet about shoulder width apart. Make sure the space between the inside of your boot and your leg, and the outside of your boot and your leg are equadistant.

There are lots of little things you can do to make a boot fit better. The Promodels (I have a pair) are not comfortable boots if you don't have the right foot. You can buy all kinds of little pads...etc to avoid pressure points and things like that. Go see a boot fitter, seriously.

hey thanks for the good advice man. I went today and I had a part pounded out by my ancle and I am gaveing them cut to increase flex. I also got some pads for the fronts to decrease the shin pressure. hopefully this all works. If not I will pick up new insole and elstic top strpas as well.

you have to learn something man... those guys at those ski shops will sell u anything to make some money

IT'S JUST LIKE A WOOKIE DUDE!!!

if you fool around with canting and such on your own you can usually get it to where it's comfortable, there's instructions in the little booklet you get with the boots...at any rate get them heat fitted, that helped mine fit 100x better

skiing is for little fat kids

insoles can sometimes be huge in comfort for a shoe or boot. The best way would be to get orthapedic soles. Where they take a mold of your foot and make the best possible insole solely for you. The only downside is that they are usually $100-200, and I don't remember if thats part of what you were complaining about.

well I had them pounded out by the left ankle and zi got shin pads the slide along the tongue. hopefully it does. I also cut them in the back to increase the flex. if they are still uncomfprtable, which i hope not by now I will prob go with teh inserts. Any suggested brands incase the becomes neccesary.

superfeet customs work pretty well, or get your stuff custom made by real medical professionals, which is hella expensive if you don't have insurance.

I don't think a 'brand' of custom footbeds makes too much of a difference. I also don't think that's the problem since your pain is on your ankle. It's never a bad investment to get custom insoles though...since they can take you through many pairs of boots. Any corked insole is good, and there are plenty of them out there. There's a good chance your dealer will offer you 'level' of footbeds. I always say splurge and get the good ones...

When I first got mine, there was some ankle pressure, but after they got broken in, they were awesome.
