Hey, I currently ride first year 1080's 177's, but i was looking to maybe get this year's 161's, anybody have any opinions on going shorter?

yo dogg, it all depends on ur ability and what kind of shit ur doin, ya know, i say if u can jib and jump well w/ the 177's stay with them, a longer ski is more stable at high speeds, as well as better at landing, shorter skis tend to be sketchy at high speeds and less stable on landings, thats what i got for ya, im out bro peace.

if ever you end up wanting this year 161, i have a pair for sell..brand new, did 2 runs with em..

That's a pretty drastic jump from 177 to 161. They make a 171. I don't know how big you are.....or for that matter what you're using the ski for. If you write back and tell us how big you are (height and weight) and what you ski maybe we all can help you out a little better. Peaz

yeah i shoulda mentioned, i'm about 6', 145 pounds. i use them mainly for jibbing and just cruising down the mtn, not much pow or backcountry. I was thinking maybe shorter skis might be better for spinning and in the pipe? Thanks guys

as long as you don't need the length you'd be fine (i think)........but you might find that you gain some weight or you're out on a powder day and decide to ski some trees. Someone your height and weight would be well situated on the 171 1080. If you're one that plans on a quiver of skis then hell....go for the 161 and keep your 177 1080 for beating up on the rocks or something.

I went 169 to 161 this year and I dont miss the length at all. Lucky the new 1080's are stiffer so they still carve great. I just feel a lot more centred on them, like more in control.

But this is just for park really, I still have a longer pair for the rest of the mountain because you do notice a bit of wobble at huge speeds!!

Made in Tasmania.

** I personally believe skiing is gaining soul. It's great to see racers ripping the pipe and boarders crossing over to skiing. If anything is taking away from the soul of skiing, it's the skiers who are in it for the wrong reasons, and the ones who are in chat rooms bagging on other people's style when they should be skiing **

your 6 foot you should get the 181 not 161 that would be stupid to get the 161 that would be like getting snowblades

'i am still awsome'

uhh dude, he may be 6 foot, but he only weighs 145....no need for 181 unless he spends LOTS of his time off piste. I'm 180 and my groomer ski is a 173.

yeah, i wish i could friggin demo the 161's, but i'm in western NY and there's not alot of options around here, but thanks for the adivce though
