100mm+ skis and rails?

A lot of companies have all-mountain skis in the 100 - 105 mm range and I am wondering how they do on rails? I know wider park skis have more stability on rails but make it harder to do swaps and spins but is 100+ mm waist too much? Any input appreciated

Personal preference really. Some like it some hate it. For me I stick to 90mm and under. Keeps that swing weight down and it's easier to transfer weight from ski to ski when doing pretz tricks but wider skis will surface swap and press nicely. All depends on what you wanna do.

They have good and bad points I think. For a start a wider ski will have a higher swing weight then the same ski in a narower width. This will mean spins on and off and switch ups will require more effort and will require you to throw harder. On the actual rail it depends how you like to slide. If you generally like to slide with a flat base you should be ok, but if you like to angle for example your front foot it can feel weird, its a bit like a wider ski being slower edge to edge. Surface swaps may be slightly easier as you have a greatet surface area. So if you like to spin on and off and switch up alot then probably go narower.

They can actually make you have better stability once you get used to them because of the extra surface area but it can be difficult to whip around for swaps, spins off etc. because of the added swing weight and because it can be harder to grip the rail with your edges when the ski is wide.

In my opinion there isn't really a huge disadvantage / noticeable negative difference until you get over 110. It sounds crazy, but the skis that companies are making today ski very well in wide widths.

I love wide skis on rails, (my two skis are shreditor 102s and halo2s) they are more stable and great for surface swaps

How do you like the Halo 2's? I am 6 ft and 200 lbs and I plan on skiing park like 30-40% of the time. I'm not really into swaps but I like really clean rails and butters, taps, and stalls. Right now I am deciding between the Halo 2, Alpha X, ON3P Jeronimo, and Moment PB&J for my summer buy
