Wow, 10,000 posts. I havent been on NS that long, but a few thoughts i have to share with you all.
I discovered NS about 3 and a half years ago, while bored looking for a skiing game to play at school. At the time i had no idea about the wealth of information, and the amazing community i had just discovered.
Upon discovering that HOLY SHIT THERES FORUMS TOO (yes i was that dumb, i thought it was just the games for a while), my addiction began. At the time, i didnt yet own a pair of twins, so of course my first threads and posts were the typical newbs, "what skis should i get!?!?!?". I was shocked when i got so many helpful awesome replies, and they helped me truly get addicted to the sport of freeskiing.
3 years later i cant believe how big of a part NS has been in my life. It may sound ridiculous, but it has. I have bought and sold countless ski things on here getting all the gear i needed, and getting rid of stuff i didnt and hooking up fellow nsers. Its been a place for laughs, a place to vent, and of course like so many, a place to feel like im almost skiing during the long summer months.
Last year i started at MSU and again NS was oh so helpful. I figured out where i was going to get my pass, and my first day at a new mountain, i felt like i already knew so many of the people i met, and it was great already having people to ski with without the whole awkward "is it cool if i ride with you guys?".
So upon reading through what i just wrote, i realize it sounds ridiculously lame, but hey. I just want to remind everyone out there that regardless of all the bickering and stupid fights on ns, we are all still skiers, this is our community, lets make sure it stays that way. In the words of the late Shane McConkey, we all have the same love "sliding down snow, and flying through the air."
PS, i still dont know how to get to chad from the bottom of alta... can anyone help?
