Ewwwww, not another global warming thread. It has been proven many times that it is impossible for people on this site to have an educated discussion on this topic. Need proof? The topic of gay people was immediately brought up, which has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with global warming, unless butt sex somehow creates more heat than normal sex.
 
First of all that graph was created to prove that the religion of Pastafarianism is the One Truth. Second there is not one person who's opinion has any kind of validness that still denies global warming. It is a fact. Get over it. Us liberals were right about something.

So what source, superior to CNN told you that global warming wasn't happening?

It's not just CNN and the 'liberal media' it's pretty much the entire scientific community. Everyone agrees that the world is getting warmer, most agree that a large proportion of that is due to human factors. I just can't understand how people can still even question this.

It's a fact, perhaps you should try and do something about it.

Hopefully this week will help towards that while I am at there! But in actuality, global warming creates more moisture in the air which in the short term means more snow...at least until temperatures get out of hand and it is not cold enough for snow. So one could argue that a big snow year with slightly warm temps is proof of global warming. But really, that is bullshit because one year of anything does not prove global warming right or wrong. It is a long term temperature trend

The thread is about global warming (albeit pirate rather than snow related) not about how warm it is in certain resorts.

One possible effect of global warming could be the weakening or shutting down of the north atlantic drift, this could result in periglacial conditions in the U.K. (We're on a similar latitude to Canada). This would involve us getting colder but the global trend would still be warming.

Climate variability is such that one years snowfall means absolutly nothing in the grand scheme of things.
 
I know this really isn't the point, but piracy is actually increasing in some parts of the world.
 
you can't base global warming on local weather patterns, come to the east coast, its just the opposite...as far as it goes, the temperature is increasing about one degree every fifty years. That doesn't sound like much but if you look at the predicted snowpack over those years it is about cut in half in most parts of the world...but who knows whats going to happen in the end (it could just be a warming trend that will reverse itself, melting icecaps could interrupt the north atlantic current resulting in colder temperatures in the northern hemispheres, or it could just be warmer sooner)

CFC's don't block the suns rays, however in the past some other forms of pollution have actually reduced isolation energy transmission and caused global cooling (around the 70s). The reason this fear has passed is not because the science was wrong, it's because a lot of countries cleaned up their act!

What possible cause do you have for saying that, because SARs didn't kill everyone? Not every 'popular scare' is the same! The liklihood for a climate trend reversal in such a small time frame is minute. I'm not saying that the world won't return to an ice age at some point. It just isn't going to happen soon.

So how is he ignorant, specifically? So the earth has been warming for a few years, wow. You are thinking in terms of a human lifespan 75 years is so absolutely insignificant compared to the time these weather cycles take place. We are talking about changes over millions of years, you have no proof nor does anyone that this warming trend will continue for longer than this year. There are so many factors in play for global climate change, including things that are completely out of our control.

There has been iceages before, what brought us out of those? SUVS? George Bush? You are saying I have no proof, well indeed I don't, but don't act as if you do.

I think you underestimate the earths ability to heal itself. You take a planet that is nearly 4,800,000,000 years old and you say that we are fucking it up because it has been warming for a few years, think about that for a minute. And no, the entire scientific community isn't agreeing that this is a problem.

Self important scientist are always trying to create a buzz or scare in their field if you will to get increased public support (funding) for their research. Everyone has an agenda.
