"100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" (According to Rolling Stone)

i dont get were people say curt cobain was an amazing player. all he songs are easy to play, no big skill involved there. i think his writing/composing skill were good, but not his guitar playing

Is this list based on skill, because I garantee you there are tons of people that have more talent and skill then Hendrix, ever heard people play classical guitar or flamenco.

sooo many good guitarists aren't on there.

the list should have been titled '100 most influentel guitarists.' THen the list would have made sense.

sugarloafer has it right. and did you ever notice that on these top whatever lists, the big name in music or tv or whatever is always higher upthen they should be? like jack white, or when everybody had like movie stars of the millenium a few years ago, people like jimmy stewart and carey grant were behind people like jim carrey and freddie prinze jr. all E! and mtv want to do is sell records for the artists they love, so they jerryrig the lists. it pisses me off and makes me feel stupid, like they think i wont catch it. Buddy Guy at #30??? dumb. Kurt Cobain- VERY influental, but not the maestro of the instrument that someone like santana or slash are.

That list REALLY sucks. Frank zappa is def. top 15 and I didnt even see Alex Lifeson of Rush...I'd say a bunch of halftards made the list

I thought the list was pretty decent coming from a guitarists point of view. Im glad jeryy was 13 or whatever. Jack white deserves the number he got. He may not be the most technical but he is pretty original and he gets a great sound for not having a bassist. You guys are stuck in the past. Sure Page is great and so is angus young but the list is made by rolling stone and they needed some young hip people on the list so get over it that the people you wanted didnt get the spot you think they deserve. And obviously most of you know very little about guitar so keep it shut.

Yep, that solo just blew me away. Playing the melody except for varying a couple notes was amazing. I could be wrong, because yes I have only heard like 5 songs by The White Stripes, but show me something that makes that me agree with Rolling Stone.

Im even surprised they rated Jimmy Page in the top 10, cuz Rolling Stone really hated on Zeppelin back in the day. They ripped every single zep album. Page should be top 5 tho, no question.
