10 hardest runs in the east

been there, theres a good 30 footer in that glade, than u come out by the shack. and traverse across the bottom of cant dog to the lift, to get there you gotta traverse up a bit and if i remember right it forks to two seperate glades at the top, one that leads to the 30 footer.
 
honest to god, a couple of years ago in december it had rained on a 6 inch base, then it got real cold, and i skied it on glare ice. it was one of the hardest runs i ever had
 
devils den at killington, the back side glade off devils fiddle can contend, several nice drops in there.

upper K27 - hunter

madonna liftline - smuggs

freefall - smuggs

starr- stowe

goat -stowe

rumor - gore

nastyest run i have skied in my life is in smugglers notch. its an ice climb.

hardest trail map trail in the east im gonna have to agree with madonna liftline top to bottom at smuggs. the run is huge like 2000 vert, trail goes straight down, fall line varies the whole time, sketchy, rock drops, big rock drops, awesome headwall, more rock drops, mellows out and then a long straight groomer then you have 15 minutes to rest your legs and do it again hollywood style.
 
and madonna liftline top to bottom is like a mile long. one mile in a straight line and steep the whole way. delicious
 
i'm gonna go with Billy's Butt at Togg for sure, shit's intense....

but on a more serious note, Rumors at Gore is definitely a fun trail, pretty long and steep headwall.... but if we're talking about earning your turns i'll go with some of the lines up at tucks and pretty much all of hillman's highway, straight ridiculous

 
Word, my favorite runs on the mountain, but they're only open about 1 week per year, so you have to be there at the right time.
 
no joke, I fell over the kid i was teaching because he snow plowed right into a bare spot and right before that spot was ice. Lovers Lane is some scary shit
 
if you like paradise youll love the 20th hole. on any powder day its the best. requires some traverses in and out but totally worth it. skinny little trail of of antalope

F.I.S. at glen ellen looks pretty steep and bumpy from over at mad river but ive never skied it

tuckerman ravine

shout out to rumor at gore since its my home mountain, but i really dont think it qualifies. unless difficulty includes conditions. coat it with gores signature ice and shitty bumps made by people from new jersey who dont know how to ski, and it can get pretty difficult.

i havent been to stowe or jay or anything up there really so i have no idea. and i havent been to tucks either but i think everybody agrees on that.
 
tucks is not hard. its an open snowfield. and the snow conditions are usually fairly friendly, unless you ski it in the mid winter, which case you will probably be avalanched on.
 
ripcord isnt shit compaired to "beast" at berkshire east in mass. ask any racer on the east coast, they know whats up at b-east.

robins run to the "scar"

then cross drifter into the woods on the same aspect as the liftline and its STEEP and tighter than a fundamentalist mormon.
 
FIS is pretty steep, but they blow a lot of snow on it so its actually really fun to ski and not too too challenging. If its icy, thats another story though. Skiing the mini trees on the side of it is awesome though, since its at like 4,000 feet elevation the snow is really good most of hte time

alright If this is the same run as im thinking and go the same way i do we have a winner... haha the scar at smuggs if its the same place as im thinking is pretty ridiculous..... definitly intense but i dont get how you get from robins run to the scar? What i call the scar you have to get on before robins? what is the "scar" to you?
 
haha i've skiied @ that mountain before. wasn't my idea but some friends and i were driving by this past winter going up further north and we were like wth. there wasn't even snow in mid february and it rained while i was there and some dog was running around at the top of the mountain and you could probably read the signs at the bottom of the mountain from the top. haha.
 
that dogs name is Thunder and he's ballin. We also have goats that cross the trails and and el paca. their all pretty bitchin. I pet the goats when i see them. and all the kids are like look! A LLAMA! I shake my head at their knowledge of el pacas
 
haha yea, the only reason Dynamite is hard is because it is usually shear ice with protruding rocks. LOL, I've only ever skiied it once when the conditions were nice!
 
bump to lovers lane and bulls run is right up there with that too but id say some of the tight tree runs at MRG hardest ive been on
 
alpacas @ thunder ridge? do you ski there much b/c that would really suck for you even though i know it's about the only ski place near NYC so better than nothing i guess. . .
 
ripcord and rumors, riprod is the most fun i have had in a while, and there is nothing like ending the run with people watching and your thighs burning
 
i feel bad for you since you are a ski snob and don't appreciate that skiing east is a whole different scene from the west
 
yeah dude.. you tell em. east coast = more hardcore. and better skiiers. skiing on ice and lack of snow all our lives gives us the advantage of when we get out west, we kill it in any condition.
as opposed to one of you guys out west, growing up skiing on powder and never have seen an ice patch, coming east and having the mountains totaly own you.

yeah dodges is alto narrower than hillman's and definitely steeper. Its probably the hardest well known line in the tuckerman's area.
