Watching the news a few seconds ago I saw that Roger Clemens has just signed a new contract that gets him an estimated ten thousand dollars for every pitch he throws....ten thousand fucking dollars for throwing a baseball...i hate the way our world works, we see people digging through garbage cans so they can eat and this guy is making something like 4 million every month, fuck that, professionals should be paid, but they should be paid a more reasonable sum, and then i dunno, the extra money that these fuckers are throwing around on their 18 cars or whatnot could go to something usefull, like say charities or something. fuck. my rants done
 
only problem with giving all that extra money to poor people is they they'll begin to expect and rely on it. Why do they deserve money that other people earned?

I agree that pro sports salaries are ridiculous, but its the players that bring in the fans and the fans bring the advertisements and thats how money is made.
 
so how many billion more people need to realize that this is fucking dumb, we are giving these people more money than doctors who save lifes and soldiers who protect us, just becuase he can throw a ball fast?
 
im not saying just go give a check to the nearest poor person, im saying the money could be better spent, thats all
 
I totally agree with you on the whole baseball players making way too much money, but as it was said before, if it were given to the poor they would rely on it. It would only create an even greater population of poor people, since they would refuse to get jobs due to the money given to them. Overall, baseball sucks, too much money, play a real sport damnit.
 
28 million for a year, about 20 games they estimate, which comes down to about 3,000 a pitch, given he pitches 100 a game. my math is better than the tv.
 
wasn't he a sweet pitcher in 1986. didn't he strike out more batters in one game than anyone else did has ever done. it was like 23 or something.
 
he is not gonna be picthing 100 every game he wont get near that nmber in the begining of the year
 
thats how the world that we live in works, there is nothing you can do about it. Communism tried to solve that, but look where it ended up

well prof lacrosse player make the worst money like the highest payed lacrosse player makes less then the lowest nhl player like way lower most of them have 2nd and 3rd jobs
 
no dont think it was 23. Also he is now an old man. The yankees need to realize why they spend so much and dont win. They always go after old veterans. Granted they have had lots of injury trouble to blame for most of this years terrible performance.
 
where does baseball get all of the money, Most kids I know hate baseball, its such a boring sport, and the best baseball player ever, babe ruth, was a fat pigeon toed drunk, so what does that say about the sport?
 
revenue, rich owners, etc. you may not like baseball, however a shitload of people do and therefore it makes lots of money. the skiing community as a whole tends to lean more towards sports like lacrosse, but baseball is more popular around the world. do they ship people from korea to play mll? and on the babe ruth part, he was a great player, but there have been better players.
 
Not really true because if you look at soccer, on a whole they get paid only a fraction of what baseball players do, and it's the most popular sport in the world. The reason baseball is paid so much is mainly the reason of rich people investing in it.
 
If you dont like it then stop watching baseball and paying for tickets and doing everything else that would give money to the yankees or any professional team. The only reason they get payed that much is because so many people pay to watch baseball.
 
clemens is def not overrted. one of the best pitchers of all time. I dont think he should be paid that much though
 
you have no clue how hard it is to play a sport like baseball professionally. And to be as good as rodger clemens too. Im not saying he deserves to be paid that much, cause the salaries are too high. But pro baseball players still go trough as much, if not more than other people would at college and stuff. It's really hard.
 
thats why i listed revenue and ownership first, its not necessarily because its international, however that does help it.
 
its the fact that hes allowed to be away from the team when hes not pitching that gets to me. Show some respect for your teammates and support them. If I was his teammate i would definitely feel a little offended
