Nothing will ever replace the cultural ski haven of newschoolers. No one has the attention span to watch a minute edit on Instagram with shitty video quality.

I personally am super hyped on this from a media standpoint. Insta has been getting a massive growth of videos to photo ratio and it makes total sense for them to roll out an update to make videos longer. I am already seeing the potential of this with their new Notifications system. What it will mean is that you have to post differently to engage your audience. Most of you use insta as a personal account for whatever so being able to upload longer videos should in no way make your life any worse. For those that market through insta it is giving a new platform to Put videos in front of more eyes. try this on for size, You put out 3 15 sec clips of shredding, then a 1minute edit at the end of each week if you properly promote your Edit with those prior posts when you drop the 1min edit you should have folks expecting it and ready to watch which in turn will put it up higher in the feed of most relevant posts. So if you put out good content it will have a much longer half life than most clips on insta. If your favorite pro puts out a 1min edit thats banger as hell only on insta.. you damn well bet you will most likely surf back to it a week later and watch it. Maybe you wanted to show a friend that edit so you tag them in it, now that pro has gained a new follower/fan not just another view on youtube. It makes it a more personable approach to the human behind the acc vs just always seeing a full length edit from them where its perfectly made and "out of your realm".
As a film and photog buff I am beyond stoked. This gives me a better way to cross brand my films, my photography and now I actually have a platform to release weekly short films.

For sure. I hated full length movies/edits that are shot beautifully with great skiing and soundtracks anyways. We'd much rather watch 1 minute shaky iPhone clips with trap music.
