1 day tour of whistler

OK I'm gonna be at whistler/blackcomb for one day just before christmas. I know, one day sucks, but one day is better than no days. And I've never been there before. so what should I do? Should I just stick to one mountain? whistler or blackcomb? what lifts have good terrain and not much lines? where is good if there isn't much snow? I know nothing but I want to make the most of my one day, so any advice is good advice. unless its shitty advice then that just sucks.

what kind of terrain do you like to ride? Do you want access to a killer park? How do you feel about hiking for some terrain? How good of a skier are you? give more details, and you'll get some better answers. WhistlerBlackcomb is HUGE, with so much varied terrain, that it's hard to say 'go here' without knowing anything about the rider.

Do both mountains, On Whistler go up a chair called'PEAK Chair', and on Blackcomb you have to go up 7th heaven. ask me if you want help. To lazy to type more.

I think you should stick to one mountain if you only have one day. A ride up either mountains is a good 25 to 30 minutes, (can be longer if it's bad weather.) It's a bit of a waste of time I think.

ok here's what I'm looking for... ummm the usual. I'm pretty good, not necissarily super park wicked but I'd want to find some steeps and cliffs (if the early season snow is any good and I won't break my skis on rocks) I'm not too big a fan of big mogul fields so glades and steeps and stuff. and nice park of course, with some big tables and intermediate rails and I'll be by myself so I want to stay in bounds, unless theres some stuff thats really really worth it.

I know my way around blackcomb a little more, so I'll let you in on a typical SFU SKI day on blackcomb: Upload the gondola at base 2, then take the excelerator chair. Bomb down any groomed run you can find to the bottom of Jersey, and then back up to the top. Now, either head down to glacier or crystal chair, or if it's looking like an early opening, 7th heaven(HUGE cat track traverse from the top of jersey, so be sure you wanna be there). Take 7th heaven up, and from there, head skier's right a shitload, and you'll end up in some really sweet trees. tap those till you get to the cat track that brings you back to the bottom of 7th, and then head up to the glacier. Head down the glacier, and if spanky's is open, head right into it. Be ready to go hard, spanky's means business. Enjoy the 5km cat track out to the bottom of excelerator.

NOW, hit the park, have some fun, work on some tech shit before heading to rendezvous for some food, because you're gonna be hungry after that morning. Make sure to have an espresso or two before heading back out.

Start your afternoon where you found the best snow in the morning. I like to hit different lines on the glacier, tapping the glacier chair and the tbars for all they're worth, as well as throwing in some stuff off of jersey cream and/or Crystal for some variety. If 7th isn't plagued by tourists(very common), it's fun to hit in the afternoon as well, especially if it's sunny.

That's all i'm going to say. Any more than that and I might start exposing some stuff that many want to keep for themselves. If you can read a trail map, and follow people that look like they know what they're doing, chances are you'll find something good. Have fun exploring.

if you're only there for one day, stop for breadfast/lunch at the crystal hut for the waffles (if it's open, you'll smell 'em from crystal chair).

I'm gonna be in vancouver mostly, thats why I can only go for one day. whats at grouse mountain? do they have a park? remember a descent park for me is at least one okish table (30+ ft) and some nice smooth rails. I'm not accustomed to this super fancy whistler shit. so ya.... whats the deal with grouse mountain?

Be ready to shell out an extra $15 if you want access to the Highest Level terrain park. They make you buy a park pass, and you better have a helmet. It might be expensive if you're there for one day, but the pass is good for the season and they print it on a plastic card that is similar to a season card, making it a cool souvenir, with your picture on it and everything. If you're into souvenirs, it's cool.

If you do whistler instead of blackcomb, head right to harmony it's got a really nice variety of terrain and covers a big enough area you really could spend an entire day there. If you get bored of that, try the peak, be warned though the really good stuff is harder to find on the peak and there are plenty o' mogul fields in the way. Plus a good run on the peak means 2 chair rides back up as opposed to harmony's one.

well I went. I'm in love. that place kicks everywheres ass. I dunno where I went but it was good. some chutes and stuff. it was great.
