1 Day on Poachers.... 2 Rivets missing

whats the point of the K2 rivets.. like for real. Only 3 hours of skiing and I’ve already Lost 2 tip rivets on one ski. I can only imagine how many of these things I’ll need to replace . Lemme know your thoughts

As a ski shop employee I can tell you they literally have no structural value whatsoever. They are not even a true rivet, more of a sleeved joint. I lost all 8 this season and have had to replace upwards of 15-20 for customers of ours. In the past two years of our shop selling poachers have only seen one delaminate in the tip after this happened so it was likely due to other causes.

oh the days of the Public Enemy... when the rivets were needed so badly because every tip of that damn ski delammed. now they are just ornamental. Next years Poachers look amazing. Maybe contact k2 to get them early?

This is definitely been covered a lot in other threads. But yes they are basically all cosmetic. Fill them with marine epoxy when they come out, use a hair dryer and dry them off first. Pray they all come out as once. Its absolutely dumb they still make them like this. I can't tell you how many times i get caught on a fake rivet riding out switch.

I have brand new 2019's and so far 4 have popped on maybe 20 days worth of skiing. I posted a pic of mine and debated some guy on the thread below, about the functionality of them. They are not true rivets as mentioned above.

Nooo dude I feel bad. If I were you I'd contact their rep, John Whitcomb (john@stonefacesales.com). He is a real good guy so hes probably your best bet. Unless K2 has some warranty program (probably do).

K2 is the worst ski company and has never made a good pair of skis.

maybe not... but considering they were one of the first companies to create the twin tip? Yeah, i’d say they’re alright :/

Vishnu’s are way more durable and way more fun than poachers.

It's all preference and price my man, also have you ever ridden a poacher for more than a few hours? Also not meant to be center mounted so that could also be your issue with them...
