Abu Dhabi's National newspaper has reported that a team of 114 German engineers have been laying ground works for what will be by far the biggest indoor snow slope in the world at Jebel Hafeet at 2.6km (1.7 miles) long. That is five times longer than the existing longest indoor slopes in Holland and Germany and six and a half times longer than neighbour Ski Dubai. The full area of the slope will be 337,000 square metres, about ten times the largest indoor slope area at present. Reports say that sections of the slope, although possibly not all, will be indoors, with movable sections to allow different slope configurations. Parts of the slope will also be supported by stilts and there will be an indoor ski jumphttp://www.thenational.ae/article/20080723/BUSINESS/704086365/0/FRONTPAGE

this shit is not cool. it ruins the enviroment and just contributes to our mountains melting faster.

If part of if might be outside and it has movable slopes, then it isn't snow. This would use far less natural resources than ski dubai or a golf course. Use some logic people.

On another note I doubt Dubai will be able to sustain this growth and be a major tourist attraction. It will be equivalent to Vegas at best. When oil reserves start dropping and money stops be harvested by the middle east they will all be fucked, especially Dubai since it relies on the oil barons to spend their cash on stupid tourist driven stuff.

Just to let you know Dubai knows that they will eventually run out of oil and money so that is why they are building all these crazy tourist destinations. Once the oil runs out they plan to survive on there banging tourist market. so in theroy they will be one of the few middle eastern countries that wont be fucked when the oil runs out.

dubai currently has 37% of the worlds cranes last i heard. by the time the oil runs out it will be the new silicon valley and a huge thriving business city so im sure theyll still be rich as fuck. the things they are putting there are so crazy. i really want to visit

yeah but then we can just build more energy hungry indoor ski-fields to combat this and we will be set! its a cycle people.

but seriously what is the point, what a waste of money and power

quit slappin you're forearm against your chest rtard. Ski Dubai cost to build:$275 million; Epcot (not including the rest of Disney World): $1.4 billion. To say the USA can't afford anything is blasphemy.

Haha, No, i knew about this a while ago, And IMO its not going to work, there going to have to blast loads of rock away to make a level piste, because jebal hafeet has many 500ft cliffs, so unless there making it especially for jamie pierre there going to struggle.

its good that they're developing this shit now so that in 50 years when it barely snows here in NY we'll still be able to ski.

they are also making an indooor ski slope right outside nyc in new jersey rite near the giants stadium u can see it goin down 95
