hey im hearin good things about the walls and was wondering if i should get the 161 or 169. im 16, 5'4" and like 130. thanks for all the help....oh and i was thinkin of buyin a pair of 07 08's and if they break (seeing as how ppl had problems with them) ill warranty them and hope for a 09 pair...this idea because the 08's are cheaper ive heard good things about volkls customer service....thanks to all

its good you know they have the binding issues. a friend of mine dealt with it last season and it sucks. and in the end i think it'd be best to get the new ones anyways. you never know what'll happen. cuz if your binding rips out and you fall and tear an ACL, you will regret it haha.

go 169 if youre gonna grow anymore.

im not sure what size but the 09 walls are supposed to be amazing, my bro works at a ski shop and they went to a demo in vermont and every one testing skis loved them

i think you should take the 169 cause i got the 178 and im 5'9 and they are perfect. if the waranty on the 08 is still good than definetly go with them. they are great skis and you cant go wrong with them unless you like really soft skis.

For a second there I thought I had the 169s and I am 6'2...but I realized i have the 177 09s...IF you plan on growing to be any taller...anything past 5'10 should not have anything less than 170...so you will want the 169s...Also DONT BUY LAST YEARS...PERIOD...I had nothing but trouble with mine, granite the customer service is good you will be out skis for 2-4 weeks depending on how close you live to the volkl shop...It only took me a week because i live 1hour 30 mins from the shop....soo its up to you

ya the only reason im leaning twards the 08's is cuz im a lil tight on money...and im gonna get some salomon sth 14's and need money for them too....thanks,...keep it commin

well i'm 5'8 now and i had the 169s.. and they are a little small.. so i guess i would go 169 if i were you.. and i would also go with the 09s.. just to save yourself the potential warranty trouble.. because it might seem like a good money saver.. but its a pain in the ass to do..

i had the 08 walls last season and i LOVED them. you wont regret purchasing these solid sticks and id say go for the bigger size, you most likely will keep growing and skiing on a tad longer ski will benefit you in the longer run man plus i find it easier to do whatever you want in the park even though you may tihnk the extra length may get in the way - it wont. hope this helps

Im like 5'8 ish and i have 161 skis and their perfect. Ive never tried anything bigger. Does it really make a difference?

yes it makes a difference. im 5'8'' and my next park ski will be 178 or

181. if you plan on doing any accually skiing or big jumps or anything

like that i would always go with a ski thats a little big rather than a

little small.

well i am from quebec and it took 2 weeks and from his profile i think hes from connecticut so he should be ok. as long as you have another pair of skis you can still ride a couple days you will be fine. just dont wait to ship them back.
and dont buy sth14 you dont need them and theyll cost more than sth 12 or pretty muc any other binding with a lower din, or from an othe brand.

i didnt ride that hard on them and i didnt have any problems on them but a few of my guy friends who had them and theirs broke but they ovisouly are gonna ride harder than me being a girl...but it also depends on your preference i like shorter skis thats why i loved them

Yo,

the skis were so rad.

if you havent baught them already you should. i rode them for most of last season and they were super consistant and really really fun. they feel a little stiff at first but once you get used to them and find the butter zone they are smooth, kinda like buttah. and everyone loves buttah. yeah and i also broke a pair of the older ones. they were fun, but you will like the new ones way way more. in terms of sizing, my advice is just to not go below your forehead. anyways good luck this season and have fun on those skis!

i take full responsibility for you breaking your old ones, haha. that was the shittyest thing ide seen in a while

If I remember correctly, it had to do with binding pullout. But everything else I have heard, they were an awesomely performing ski.

I have a pair of gotamas and I love them.

I'm sure volkl is good on warranty issues as well

ok my problem was binding pullout.. happened twice.. struggled to get them to warranty.. but eventually I did.. still dont know if the sent 09s or more 08s though.. they are a fun ski.. for what its worth i am 5'8 and 135 and i rode the 169s and loved them.. im right between the 169 and the 177 and i was happy with the shorter skis.. really fun on piste.. crap in pow though.. well not crap but not great..

that would be the case with a shorter ski... and yeah the problem was weak spots throughout the ski. i pulled my binders out of the 08s twice and finally snapped the ski in half. the 09s fixed this problem and they also made improvements with the core. the new skis are more consistant and a little more buttery.

I'm planning on getting a pair of the 09's this fall too. I can't decide on length though... I'm 5'10" 175lbs. I'm deciding between the 184 and the 177. Any thoughts?

I was under the assumption that the Wall was unchanged for 09, except for the graphics. But, REI's website has the following description:

http://www.rei.com/product/774403

-Dense wood underfoot provides excellent screw retention; soft poplar wood in the remainder of the ski creates snappy responsiveness

-Soft-flexing Butter Zones in the tip and tail of ski allow smooth and controlled nose and tail presses

-Dimension-3 sidecut, designed to optimize the ski's flexed shape, contacts snow with an even pressure that yields incredibly smooth turns

-Armed Edge system anchors the edges to the ski via functional Völkl logos that increase strength, resist pull-out and up the cool factor

This sounds like they've made some changes from last years--particulary the butter zones. Anyone know if they have made changes from the 08?

Go for the 169. Im 5'9" 150 and I rode the 177 Walls last year and had no problem handling them. Great ski, they held up really well for me too, only problems I had was the bindings pulling out.

My volkl karmas in a 185, when measured from tip to tail, actually measure 180 cm.

Assuming that the walls measure the same, that means that the 169 will actually be only about 2 cm taller than you. So center mounted they should be the perfect size for you at 169. I definitly wouldn't go smaller.

once again, that is only if the walls measure the same as my karma,s which I'm not sure, but i don't see why they wouldn't.

do you guys think its worth it to get the old ones and try to warranty them or should i just go for the 09's....like its saving almost half but i dont know if its worth the hassle
