09 surface

i have seen the top of the mountain!!! it is good!

expect some really really good things next year... im already saving for several pair...

yeah same, definitely good stuff... i'm forsure getting a pair, notsure which one though

i like the idea of a fatter rockered symmtrical soft park ski...

i like last years live life 2's but they dont make them in a long enought size for me (im 6'4)

does anyone know if they are making a longer live life 2 around 185 or 186.

Or possibly redesigning a ski like he described above?

you spelled 'comin' 'cumin' so i think he was playing on your spelling. but cumin is actually a spice and what he was talking about would be spelled 'cummin'. that's my interpretation anyway.

i have some watch lifes solid ski like it a lot def would get another pair...kinda detuned my edges from lots of rails bases r pretty burly but if u know how how to make a proper turn and have some edges its sick ski love mine. def lookin forwards to next year hopefully they have a ski that is like 80-90

I dont know if they will be coming out with a longer live life or live life two... but they will have a ski called the trash life that will be symmtrical park ski with a little rocker. I think its 108 underfoot

I'm glad to hear i'm not alone in wanting something like this. As well as many others, i'm sure, so I took it upon myself to concieve a new kind of ski company. ARTificial skis, as the name will be, will be releasing a limited number of unique skis. I'm a student in high school, and between my cousin (who is majoring in materials science at Uof I) and I, we will work towards being an independant ski company. what sets us aside is our ideas; we've both been skiers all of our lives, and know how we want our stuff to perform. using unique ideas and materials (fiberglass has nothin' on what we're using...) we've found a way to manufacture a truely lighter and stronger than conventional ski. Our park ski will be 94 underfoot, symmetrical, and will feature a mid-soft flex with slight camber underfoot and rockered tips and tails.

oh, and there's no way we're planning on making ANY money in the near future, so our goal is to get more people on the snow rather than try to start off getting rich. our skis will be cheap in price, but certaintly not in durability or performance; we simply want to get our name out there, so we'll sell at near the break-even point!

you just wait... good things are about ready to happen, and we're working every day..

wouldnt you want the rocker to start pretty soon after the bindings? cause when you butter, the ski flexes the most like 4 inches in front or behind the bindings, so having it by the tips and tails would be kinda pointless for park? mabye im just not realizing something.

we've been doing a lot of expiramenting with it, and the answer is yes and no. while it IS easier to butter right in front of your bindings, making a ski this way would sacrifice quite a bit of all mtn. performance. the soft spots won't edge or engage the snow as the stiffer spots in the ski. we've been trying to find a good balace between the performance/butter line, and we've found the about 20-24 inches behind the tip and tail works the best.

you have good logic, but we've done a ton of work on it, and the ski overall isn't by any means stiff, so it should still be like riding something heavanly. nothing is set in stone yet, and we havn't started making a ton of pairs.

you like the idea though?

we'll also be releasing a pow ski, but that's another story.

yeah that makes sense, i trust you more than me.
so is it supposed to be a mostly park ski? i really like the idea of a rockered park ski, especially a softer one. ive always wanted something like a rockered invader or anthem, like super soft and have the rocker start by the butter zones, though that could be pretty sketchy on jumps.
is it gonna be kinda like the skate banana snowboard from libtech? it has normal camber under foot and rocker in the tips and tails, but i heard that when its pushed flat on the ground the rocker starts earlier and closer to the bindings or something.

yea, our park ski will be like the lib board... that's just the fundamentals of having camber AND rocker... when you push it down in the middle, the pressure widens from side to side, making the ski flex up to where the rocker starts. normal camber skis work the same way, it's just that you can't see the change. sorry if that was confusing?

and yea, this is a "park" / all mtn. ski. it's 94 underfoot, and it's symettrical; therefore, for me, it's a park ski. (i'm west coast... yeaa.) wide skis are nice in the park, and i'm pretty sure lots of people are gonna be stoked on it.

^^^glad to hear you like my ideas, too!

I've been looking for a ski just like that. That idea sounds sick and I hope you guys really blow up. I'd be one of the first to grab a pair of those if you start producing them. Goodluck man

powforbreakfast your ideas sound soooo sick, finaly somone is makin skis has good ideas, when do you guys think youl start selling skis? and in what sizes? when there avaliable and if there in my sizes (im short) id deffinalty be interested in buying a pair cuz you guys sound like you know wahts really happining :D

if everything goes according to plan, skis should be on sale by next fall. the smallest we'll make will be around the low 170's to start out with. right now, i'm primarily concerned with the more standard sizes of the upper 170's, low 180's for the park ski and a 184/194 size for the pow skis. I havn't figured out bulk cost of everything, but if funds allow, we're looking at enough material for upwards of 370 pairs of skis. all of the skis will ride way shorter than they actually are, though, due to the rocker. thanks for the props, once i get everything more organized and such in a few months, i'll be releasing sneak-peaks of the graphics (which are gonna be wayyyyyyyyYYYY sick) and start promoting stuff with specifics on everything.

Dude if you're only thinking of making like 370 pairs, then i think you should do a pre order thing or just write down the people that are interested. This way, you can be sure that you will sell a certain amount, if not all of them. I'm partially saying this becuse I know that i would be extremely interested in that park ski ur talking about and If they come out good, id like to get my hands on a pair.

does anyone know more about the trash lifes, other than its symmetrical......or if they are coming out with a longer live life 2.

any graphics?

its like 108 under foot as said above, and it is going to be made to transition from pow to park easily. so a pretty soft flex?

It is made with the brighton skier in mind so I hear

yea, well, in reality, for this fall it probably won't be quite that many, but that's how much material i'm aiming to get. we shall see! just wait a few months, ther'll be wayy more info coming out then. As for getting everything sold, i'm not worried a bit about getting rid of all the skis... it'll be a first come, first serve basis when they release, so i'll start promoting 'em in early summer and then get 'em on sale in the fall.

they have screen shots from the 08 catalog in their blog... go check them out there are pics and stuff of the live life twos and watch lifes
