09 pontoons

im 5' 11" and 140 pounds. Kinda a skinny kid. I ski in the east and already have pistols and lizzies but am most likely going to get the 09 pontoons. Probuably will only use them like 5-10 times a year but whatever.

My question is what size should i get 169 on 179. I have been skiing since i was 2 and have no problem handling my lizzies. I have heard that rocker makes the ski feel shorter but not sure if the sheer width of the ski will make it feel to big.

Any input helps

id say go 179. your tall enough and probabaly a strong enough skier to handle them, plus rockered skis ski alot shorter since theres alot less ski on the snow.

howabout you buy those pontoons and sell me your lizzies?

If your 5' 11" then I would definitely go with the 179's. 169 is a fairly small ski, and especially for a guy your size. Im sure you'll be able to handle a 179 quite easily.

id go with the 179s

i rode 169s in park last year and im 5'8". i could have gone bigger so youll def be fine with the 179s. plus you are prolly a much stronger skier than me.

might i ask? why not hellbents?

theyre much much more versatile. and in the east they shouldnt be any worse in the 8" of pow we get from time to time.

^1. Did you read any of this thread before posting? 2. Jay peak gets 350 inches a year avg., more than many in Colorado. He's gonna need some float.

Oh, and to answer your question 179's definately, and last years ski will be cheaper. Be sure to read McConkey's warning- something like "In the likely event of a powder landing, this device should be used as a floatation aid" :)

even on the good east coast days hellbents would be a better choice than pontoons. why not have a more versatile ski? actually get ep pros. do it
