09 Line Invaders vs. 2011 Afterbangs

I'm after a fun, soft, light, buttery ski to muck around on when I'm not shredding on my chronics. Are the afterbangs easier to butter? Which ski is lighter/stiffer?
My home mountain gets no powder or deep snow, so the thinner waist of the invader shouldn't be a problem?
Are the invader's bases quicker than the A-bangs?
Which ski would you recommend?
+K for good responses and experiences with either ski.
I'll be teaming them up with some 2011 marker giffons if that's of any relevance. Can you mount the invaders slightly back from center OK?
 
I have 2010 afterbangs and 09 Invaders. afterbang bases suck so bad. decents butters, lil heavy. Invaders are super buttery, light, fast and such a sick ski. i would fo for them. But depends because the 2011 could be different.

2011 afterbangs are unchanged from 2010 (apart from slight graphic changes)
 
^ yeah you're defeating the purpose if you want to mount back, but invaders are such a fun ski, you won't be disappointed.
 
I would say the Invaders would be excellent, since you do have a stiff ski for bigger jumps, they are very playful on rails, and great for buttering and presses.

The bases are not quicker, they use the same material, and I haven't noticed much difference, both are slow. If you're not hitting big jumps, however, this shouldn't be a problem.

Definitely don't mount Invaders anywhere but center. You'll mess up the flex pattern, and the ski will carve much worse than if it was center-mounted.
 
I can't comment on Afterbangs since I haven't skied them but from my experience Invaders have absolutely terrible durability.
 
OK cheers. I thought that if I mounted them slightly back it might make them a slightly better all mountain ski. Clearly not, haha!
So the invaders are lighter than the afterbangs?
 
Turns out the ski shop's all out of invaders, but I'm going to go for some 178 anthems instead. Should be nice and buttery still, but slightly stiffer and wider?
 
dont get anthems if you already have chronics, even though they are a more flexible ski. take the time to order a pair of invaders, they will be worth it in the long run. it is also a good compermise to the bangs, because your buds wont be waiting for you for 10 minutes at the bottom of the run. how do you like your chronics, by the way? what year?
 
Why do you say that? I thought that because anthems are softer than invaders, I'd have a stiff ski for charging (chronics) and then a nice soft ski for playing with (anthems). From what I've read anthems are a far better all mountain ski than the invaders of afterbangs for that matter.
Also, the anthems would probably be a better option for the extremely rare days when we get some fresh/pow snow.
I love the chronics, they're the 2008s (orange ones, but the construction hasn't changed at all since 2008). So good for charging groomers and stomping big landings. They have a perfect turn radius and really do ski everything well. The chronics are really nice and light, easy to throw around in the air. Riding switch is a piece of piss and they've got good pop. They're pretty quick (at least compared to my mates skis) and I can blast past 98% of skiers on the groomers. They are the best twins I've ever ridden for dealing with ice and hard pack snow.
But having said that, I don't have the ability to butter/press them because they're so stiff. Which is why I want a nice soft ski to complement the chronics.
 
true that. i assumed you would be using your chronics as your all mountain ski for the kind of conditions youre skiing in though. and also true you dont need the extra width, so anthems might be your best bet. but line isnt the only ski company out there, make sure you take a good look around before you make a decision.
