Hey everyone i am buying a new pair of skis sometime in the next month and its a toss up between the new 09 K2 extreme's and the 08 Armarda AR6's.

I'm about 185cm tall and weith about 190 pounds or 85 - 90 kgs.

Any help will be much appreciated

The Extremes may be a bit more stable/stiffer than the AR6, heavier, too..In saying that, the AR6 would also be a good choice.

Nothing has changed from the PE to the Extreme.

Both skis you mentioned are good all-mountain twins.

i had the 06/07 pe's and then i broke them and got this years(07/08) ar6

i like the ar6 better in the park cus i find them lighter and less stiff

wut do you ski mostly?

Yeah, I had the pe's last year, and this year I have the AR6's. I found the AR6's to be much lighter, buttery, and generally more fun to ski. The only thing I found to be less than perfect with them was that the topsheet chipped a lot, but I guess that probably happens with any sandwich construction ski. Go for the AR6's, you'll like them a lot more. And they will be cheaper than the Extremes if you buy last years model.

maybe im wrong, but i think this is in gear talk. and i think the extremes and the ar6 are really simila. my pes and ar6s ride somewhat the same

the extremes aren't gonna have a p-tex topsheet so they'll be a lot lighter than the PE, jsut to clear that up. i'd say if you're a strong all mountain skier/carver (ex racer or something) go with the k2s, but if your gonna be spending most of ur time in the park get the armadas. you can't really go wrong tho they're both good skis.
o and if u get the extremes, be sure to mount them +6 or 7 cause what says "true center' on the ski is still pretty far back. i mounted mine +3 and now they have an assload of swing weight

I would say the AR6 I just think there a better ski all around, not as heavy and stiff.

Since ur kinda tall (185cm is kind of tall right? Cuz thatd be the same length as a 185 ski, I forget if theyre meausured in cm I think they are, sorry If im being an idiot) U may wanna consider the 181 Ar6 to the longest of the Extreme, the 179.

Ive ridden the Ar6 but not the PE. Ar6 is great all mountain (sans pow) and awsome in the park. Again, havent ridden the PE but just given u that length hint.

I ski all over the mountain but I have been getting into the park a bit more over the past few years, probs still about 70% mountain 30% park. I like a fairly stiff ski but one that is not too heavy.

Ive ridden both, and I find the PE/EXT to be a bad ski. Its damp and has no pop, and it is a very heavy ski. The AR6s are lighter, and much poppier.

id like to say the extreme because of ur size and its stiffness...

but i could never reccomend the PE for anyone cause it is just such a dead, heavy, sloppy ski

so i guess ar6 eh?

Thanks everyone i think ill go the armada's but I'm torn between sizes, at 181 185 cm or 6'1 im not sure whether to get the 176's or the 181's?

im tellin ya man i love my AR6s compared to any PE.... super lite and really versitle... plus if you think about it... EVERYONE is going to have the PEs not that there is anything wrong with it but not many have the AR6s just somethin to think about yo

If the Extreme is like the PE I would have to say you need to avoid it. My dad has this year's PE and it doesn't even compare to my Armadas. It is much heavier (like twice as heavy) as my POW SKIS and he only rides 171. I rode it and it just doesn't have any life to it. A boring ski in my opinion. Plus every gaper who buys a ski gets those. They are good for an all around/groomer twin...but that's it.

You are pretty big too, get the 181 AR6.
