08 surface skis

capped skis does not automatically make them suck. it's just that's what you associate it with. many price point skis are capped because capped skis are cheaper to make, hence they're price point... but simply being a cheaper process doesn't make the ski bad. it's more a matter of what the actual ski is made of. besides, a lot of tech is incorporating a capped topsheet with a sidewall. like this year's scratches. read up on that. they're some of the best skis i've ridden. from what i can tell from what i've read, surface is doin' this kinda thing... like a vertical cap with a 30 degree sidewall. but who knows, i haven't seen those in person yet.

moral of the story; don't judge a ski by it's topsheet construction.
 
curious to see how many Kingswoods you've seen break? Every single pair I've seen or known of people having has been completely bomber, except for topsheet chipping, which is fixed in their new models with their polyamide 12 topsheets.

I've owned iggies, capitals, kingswood, plus tons of normal corporation made skis, and without a doubt the kwoods were better made and more durable than most. Iggies are more bomber, but thats about it.
 
umm, fischer has been making skis for years, and have been a major player on the race scene for a long time, you obviously have never skied them or you would know they are pretty durble (minus the topsheet problem on the addicts, which isn't a big deal anyway), i say get off your high horse generalizing stuff, when i've had my K2s break fast than any other ski i owned, and then learn they wouldn't warrentee them cause i hit rails (no edge breaks either). customer service goes a long way, and is something the large companies keep forgeting, but the smallones deliver. oh and armada is made in the elan factory, which is no small company.
