08 subaru STI

man   i thought the same thing.     the other day i saw one and it isn't AS bad in person.
 
no.  i saw an 08' wrx (hatchback) in the new style.  i'm not an idiot.  i know enough about cars to know what i saw.  
 
they are fucking awesome. so much more rally oriented then the 1st gen and 2nd gen. im going to try and get a loan to get one
 
i love the 08's. so much doper looking. the huge fin was sooooo ugly. looked too much like rice rocket instead of a rally car. fins are gaaaayyyy!
 
yea, im diggin the new body style as well. anyone got a picture of the 4 door? i love that dashboard with the nav and those gauges! they are sick as fuck.
 
Yeah I like it a lot, I like hatchbacks. I would never get one becuse it just scremes ricer, but none the less I like the improvment.
 
I think it looks pretty cool. In my opinion it looks a lot like a Pugeot 206. Kind of drifted away from the sedan body style. I am a fan I guess. I would have to see one in person.
 
In all honesty, some of those new STI's actually look rather alright... they are still a shitload better looking than the bubbleeyed ones from 2000-2003 or whatever...

Plus its a hatch? I think they are taking more of an aim at the new GTi rather than the lancer X now...

 
in a few years i might buy one when i'm done with school. i started off not liking it that much, but it is growing on me fast. in one of those links, the matte black test car they got pictures of looked sweet.
 
i amr eally surprised that they don't even offer a sedan model. i think they'll probably lose a bit of sales because of that. but i have to assume that the people at subaru know what they are doing.

Wow, what is Subaru doing?? Hatch-back only? That's retarded. The 07 Grand Cherokee SRT8 with the Hemi would tear that thing to shreads.

It'd also be nice if someone made tail lights that weren't all altezza-ricer style. That's not as big of a deal though.

Yeah I guess you are pretty stupid if you compare those 2 cars. I could say "Is Jeep retarded, the Porsche 911 Turbo would blow the doors off the grand cherokee SRT8..."

And its a 2.5 litre engine, and it would still kick the shit out of an SRT8 on the track. So shut it.
 
Lol, you crack me up. Considering both the Subaru WRX hatchback and the Grand Cherokee are both AWD, and both hatchbacks, it sort of puts them in the same category for somebody who might be looking for a roomy AWD car that's fast. I think it'd be a pretty good race.
 
uhhhhh yeah you are, the cherokee weights 4800 lbs the sti weights about 3200. engine size dosent meant shit, especially on a heavy car. all big engines are good for is making guys think their dick is suddenly bigger. look at 125cc shifter karts, they do 0-100-0 in 8-9 seconds, look a a bike like an r1, that will destroy any "badass" in his 6 litre hemi or whatever.

plus the cherokee cant handle for shit, what good is a car if it can only go straight somewhat well?
 
ok a jeep grand cherokee is not a fucking car. its a 5 thousand pound suv. power/weight ratio is garbage on that thing. the STI would fucking munch it up
 
Are you kidding me? The Chrysler 300c SRT8 weighs in at 4.1k lbs, the Grand Cherokee weighs in at 4.8k lbs, the Chrysler 300c SRT8 is really fast, you do the math. This thing goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds.
 
nope. car and driver says it runs a 13.5 in the 1/4. thats slow. i have a gixxer 750 and a corolla. i think i know whats fast and whats not
 
ive driven the cts-v which is way similar, its quick, but i wouldnt say fast. the 300c is a boat though, an sti would totally destroy it on a track, and probably beat it in a 1/4 mile
 
I have never in my life heard a Grand Cherokee been referred to as a "hatckback". Nor do I hear a wrx referred to as "roomy" very often. Plus they're not even close to being in the same category as the STi is like $35K, and the SRT8 is around $43K.
 
New STi should have 320hp and around 304 ft/lbs torque with a weight of 3300lbs.

The SRT8 Jeep has 420hp and 420 ft/lbs torque with a weight of 4600 lbs.

The STi has hp/lb rating of .096 hp per lb.

The Srt8 has hp/lb rating of .091 hp per lb.

Straightline accelleration, gearing differences aside (since gearing could change everything) should be similar, but the STi would DESTROY the SRT8 if any turns came into play.

One is a heavy SUV, the other is a performance tuned racer.

Why compare apples to oranges anyways?
 
i'm thinking someone should call up top gear and have them run a duel between the sti and the cherokee. the overall winner would be the sti though.
 
And look how the spoiler actually serves a purpose on the car.

It's not just a decoration like the rear wing on a ricer, or a smaller factory spolier on other cars.
 
looks like someone just copied that off one of the old models and stuck it on there. no way would they produce that car with that on there.
